A letter to Pete Parsons, Bungie CEO. Re: ce-34878-0

Just sent this to the following emails: pete@bungie.net, pete.parsons@bungie.net, pparsons@bungie.net, pete@bungie.com, pete.parsons@bungie.com, pparsons@bungie.com In hopes one of those is his. -------- Hey Pete, Not sure if one of these is your email or not. Lucky guess if so. As I'm hopeful you know already. Myself and the PS4 Pro community have been supremely let down so far by the Destiny 2 release with the emergence of error code ce-34878-0. The response from your Support team thus far has pretty much been non-existent aside from the occasional "we're looking into this" or "try turning off Boost mode or HDCP :shrug:". As a lifelong fan of Bungie, I'm deeply saddened by my experience so far. $100 for the deluxe edition on the PSN (which offers no refunds btw) and it crashes to the point that it makes the game literally unplayable. Y’all typically come through, but should this continue you can be damn sure I won’t be buying Bungie games anymore. Which is a shame, because they truly are awesome. It’s also crazy to me that the fans who love PS4 gaming enough to buy a PS4 Pro and 4K TV’s are the ones you’re seemingly adamant to spurn. If it’s a software issue, please let us know. Also please communicate to us a potential timeline for a fix if this is indeed something you at Bungie can fix. If this is a hardware issue, please let us know so that we can all begin flocking to retailers to try and get our consoles looked at/swapped out. Just PLEASE provide us with an update on the plan moving forward. Is there a potential timeline? Should this not be fixed by EoD today do you have a team planning to work through the weekend? Should we try and get replacement PS4's this weekend so we can play your game and give you more of our money through microtransactions? The undercommunication by yourself and your organization thus far is downright shameful. According to the poll I've created here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/230552282?sort=0&page=0 Roughly 20% of my sample size is seeing the issue on newer systems. So I'm hesitant to even try and get a replacement when this is the only game causing the issue. (Tomb Raider runs fine). I've also tried every troubleshooting step there is on the forums, twitter, etc. In said poll, 300 people have clicked that they're having issues across different circumstances that make the game UNPLAYABLE. 300 * $60minimum is $18,000 dollars. Use that money to pay your devs to work the weekend. I'm 99% you'll never read this message and 99.99% sure you won't respond. But if you do see this, please for the love of the traveler do something about it or speak to the community on this topic directly. I truly hope you can resolve this sooner than later. ---- I encourage everyone on this forum to make as much noise about this issue in every possible channel you can find. Write your local congressman for F^#$'s sake. Get the word out!

  • I'm sure it's an hardware problem your best bet is to send your pro in for repair or keep exchanging it until you get a good one . Went through the Sony tech support twice never once do they suggest it's the game. They are quick to recommend sending in your pro for repair. They need to recall the PS4 pro. What's sucks is that I'll have to wait weeks to play the game by then all my friends will be way ahead of me and I'll always be playing catch up

      • Perfect letter! I do not have a pro but I have the glacier white PS4 as part of the destiny bundle 3 years ago. I never had an issue with it. Destiny 1 or any other game for 3 years. I believe I clocked about 1000 hours on destiny in the last 3 years without issue. I cannot stress enough that I have had no problems with my system all that time. The D2 beta I had no problems. But now during matchmaking, about 90% of the time, I crash when it gets to about 6 matches. It cannot be a system issue, it has to be a bungie software issue. I don't know why they do not provide regular updates. At this point, I do not know what the mean by "actively". I feel it's a low priority by them and they are probably looking at it for about 5 minutes a day because how can a severe issue exist for so long. I am angered!!!!

      • Early PS4 Pro,4k TV,Pro on boost mode for upscale 4K,digital D2,and well over 30 hours playtime without any issue. No crashes,no freezes,no error codes,not even any issues with the beta either when it was out.

        I feel bad that you and others are having this issues. I have not had any, my ps4 was bought recently in july. system software is up to date Hdcp enabled, boost mode on. game is digital download and play on a hd tv non 4k don't know if that helps. have you tried restoring to factory setting?

      • Cabbage I know there is no way to avoid all the problems with releasing a new game. However, you have all the power communicating solutions/updates to the problems (cabbage) and when/if this problem can't be fixed. $90 is no big deal / considering the millions that has been made since the release date of destiny 2. There has to be some expectation of this product to work after purchase. So, how about a refund or update on the fix, if one can be made? English #feedback Comment Start Topic Edit

      • In the same boat with a 4KTV and PS4 Pro and the game is almost unplayable with how often it crashes. If there's a problem, at the VERY least I'd like to be formally informed by Bungie

      • This sucks for y'all. I've a regular Pro and the game is digitally installed from PSN and runs fine without any sign of this error. That tells me maybe its a disk issue somehow. I hope they can fix it for y'all.

      • Your sample size is considerably skewed since the only people that will even see your poll are people either looking at the #help and #errorcode tag forum to post a problem or for posts concerning their problem or people looking to help such people. You'd have gotten a better sample size posting in both #help and #destiny forums.

        • Good luck man. And frankly it's f'ing insulting seeing all the whiny posts and tweets where people are like "my shaders aren't working, or I didn't get my pre order bonus". And that's the shit that's being addressed and responded to. F that! I'm thinking of trying the repair route, even though my ps4 pro is great for EVERY single other game out there. Hey bungie, talk to every single developer out there who makes games and find out how they got theirs to run on the pro lol. To be faor I did some dusting and shuffling and I can play on my regular ps4 but I swear I wouldn't have bought for PS4 if I knew this. I would have bought for xbox to use when the one x is released bc I want this to look like it did in beta. It's noticeably better on the pro (for 5 min). Idk ... why does every other game on MY pro not crash? Including Horizon. Bungie!, talk to guerrilla!!! And JFC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TELL US SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • now I am inclined to believe it's PS4 Pro's hardware defect issue. Destiny 2 didn't do a good job in optimizing. My PS4 Pro was super hot compared to my roommate's when playing destiny 2 and his never crashes. Everytime the PS4 pro crashed, I COULD TELL IT'S BURNING INSIDE.

        • not a PSN user (filthy XBL here lol) - but - I support you 1700% and even more thank you for the calm, rational response to Bungie. weren't this and other already issues that PS4pro users (and only Pro users, not non-pro?) had been seeing even in the Beta? - like, corruption, HD-killing, overheating, network, etc. - and, naturally, the response from fanboys-everywhere, if I recall correctly, was along the lines of - "shaddap-a-you ITZ THA BETA HOW DARE YOU"? as if that was in any sense meaningful. so, great, they're "looking into it" - jeez bungo, how about professional ethics and diligently ensuring AAA-level release-quality paid software is, you know, release-quality? I have no doubt that many a software engineer has been worked bloodless and to the bone as Bungie scrambled to make their release dates. but did the QA people go on vacation or something?

        • Well when bungie stats they are looking into it means they dont know what is causing the issue. Is it on their end or is it on sonys end or could it be both. What other items players are using that could be the cause to this( like tv, devices connected to console, network,...and etc).They have to investigate where the problem is and it will take time to find it and create a fix. Dont expect it to be resolved within days. Now the game only been out for 3 days so do u really believe bungie can resolve this within this time frame and the logical conclusion is no. For all i know it could be months before we get it resolve or if its an easy fix then maybe by next weekly reset.

          • I sent my PS4 Pro in today recently 20 minutes ago to FEDEX. Now they are shipping it to Sony for repair/replacement. I hope I get it back within a week before/after raid. If not then it is ok I will wait. I've already reached lv 20 with a 209 light doing public events/heroic public events on Titan planet a lot. Run around back and forth to every public events on titan planet without a single crash. I agree with your post. It could be Bungie's Destiny 2 game are too buggy or Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro hardware issues/Defective system. I blame BOTH! If my system comes back to me with no Bungie's patch/fix hasn't been released yet and my Destiny 2 game crashed on my repaired/replaced ps4 pro then obviously it is Bungie's unless they release a fix then it is all good.

          • The fact that Sony will not issue refunds on a completely broken game is class action lawsuit material. I bet it gets the lawyers salivating. There is negligence on both Sony's side and Bungie's side. Any sort of response would be appreciated but they would rather stoke the fires. If you are adamant enough you can get a refund through Sony customer support.
