I have played Destiny 1 since Alpha. It has been the one game that I come back to over and over...and when I got into Destiny 2 two nights ago I was a little sad to see the old game go, and was glad to look at all the memories...from cheesing VoG to running weekly featured raids... I felt much better once I jumped in. Destiny 2 is great. I maybe even got teary at the end of the campaign and felt like I was home again. Until I figured out the new shaders... I always carried my favorite 10 shaders with me, and would rotate them based on mood...Chatterwhite, Polar Oak and Infinite Link were some favorites. They meant something. They could also unify the look of my mismatched gear. Now you want me to make a "Permanent" choice when applying shaders. I get them in odd mismatched numbers so I can't unify the look of my character. Essentially I don't want to use them until I get my final end game gear sets/weapons/ships. There is no way to see what other ones are out there and how to earn them. Massive disappointment after finishing the campaign. I used to spend hours in tower looking through shaders and emblems, ships and sparrows, trying to complete the last few holes in my collections...picking which one I wanted to wear in crucible or which ship I wanted my friends to see in orbit... I get it. Players hate change. And some change is good. I get it because I have worked on multiple live games. League of Legends, Smite, Paragon, SimCity...As a dev I get it. As a dev I understand that my nostalgia for the old metallic shader ring popping up in the upper right of my screen was impacting my feelings about the new shader icon look...I was trying to get past that. I can't past the inability to switch shaders on a whim. To feel like they mean something. To know what ones are available and how to get them. The kiosk was part of updates that made the game better and was cheered by the community...why go backwards? Is this really a greed move? If so, itt is one that really really sucks. If I only had to spend a nickel for every time I changed my shader in D1 I would have paid thousands. I really hope Bungie does their whole " we listened" thing and fixes this stat. There were some really terrible throughout all of D1, but those of us that played like I did gave them the pass, and they often fixed these things. I was wondering while playing through the campaign of D2 what might pop up and be one of those "why the hell did they choose that as the option that seemed viable?" And nothing really did...until I started digging into shaders. To say I feel slighted might put too much weight into the relationship between dev and player. But after investing the amount of time I have over the last 3 years, to have everything wiped clean, and then replaced this with this nonsense...doesn't make me feel respected. Enjoy my money Bungie. I have bought everything you have ever offered...including a $777,777.77 T-shirt at a slight discount...but I won't spend any money on anything else until this is fixed. Please.
