So I found a solution to the problem. I picked up the taken king for the PS4, and went through the account import process. I then opened up destiny 2. My account is no longer considered legacy, and the companion app as well as destiny item manager is now working. I don't know if I needed to buy the taken king, but I was just worried about losing my Destiny 1 progress. Sucks I had to buy the game, but happy it's working

Anyone here know if there is a thread or any kind of info for PS3 players jumping straight to PS4 and having issues with their account? I suspect that many of the issues here have to do with that.
