So Recon Number 54's account was jacked...
...and I knowz who did it.
But unforutnately the person who did it changed the GT and put it put the GT onto a silver account.
Sux to be Recon Number 54. I feel you. :(

This. This. This. And so much more of this. That's why I feel safe with my account, it's attached to an email only I know; I don't even use it for spam. After I got my account taken, it's the only measure I knew to take that was fail safe; along with frequently changing passwords. The moderator accounts almost certainly have another layer of security to access mod tools. The problem is the fact we, and xbox live, use WLID, a windows service. That service allows you to retrieve ownership of an account through simple application of personal information. Personal information that we usually freely publish to the net through facebook and the like. Phone up MS to retrieve a WLID account and they're going to ask you things like your name, dob, home town. Tracking those details down is, for most people, child's play. Same goes for "security questions". They actually make your account less secure. The best thing you can do [there is nothing b.net can do] is to keep your windows live ID, i.e. the email you sign in with, as secret as you keep your password. It is much more difficult to retrieve the account if you do not know the email attached to the account.

Incidentally, if his linked Gamertag has been compromised, his Bungie.net account probably has as well. We may be looking at another Pezza. Or we're being trolled, and the hacker on Recon's account is playing along. Who knows.
