First off, playing on PC with a controller is the closest way that people who enjoy the convenience of a console can play this game at 60fps.
People who want to play the game with better graphics, framerate, and resolution should not need to be punished to play a way that isn't comfortable or convenient for them.
- Aim assist is absolutely needed for controller users to even be on par with a mouse and keyboard user without AA.
- A mouse is much more accurate than a thumb stick. You have your entire wrist for pinpoint accuracy as opposed to just one finger.
- It's almost impossible and unenjoyable to play a PVP game with a controller without aim assist.
- If you remove aim assist, it gives mouse and keyboard players a highly unfair advantage.
You should always make any player feel inclusive. I know a lot of people who built a mid-range PC that prefer console gaming, just for this game. Please don't give us a disadvantage.
But people on PC can use XIM4 to obtain aim assist for their keyboard and mouse..
This is a small minority of people, and it's not just a PC problem. XIM4 works on consoles too, and it's always been a problem there. If people want to spend $150-$200 for an unfair advantage, then consoles need to do better at detecting this device and banning them, same goes for PC.
There needs to be a better way around this rather than removing aim assist completely.
Please make this game inclusive on PC for all types of players. It's the only way controller users can enjoy the game at 60fps.

should not need to be punished to play a way that isn't comfortable or convenient for them.
I mean PC players feel that way with console not actually supporting mouse and keyboard. PC is the only inclusive platform out there. The problem here is that this aim assist issue is not acceptable to players. Even if they turned it on for all, and it just gives controller players a disadvantage again anyway. Which wasn't the point. As far as the aim assist with keyboard and mouse problem goes. If it works the way I think it does, just limit the speed a controller can go with look sensitivity as it is on console. On consoles you couldn't go nearly as quickly as PC. I am assuming on PC when a controller is plugged in it still makes use of the look sensitivity options PC has. So that still gives the mouse and keyboard the speed but keeping the controllers assist systems. Whereas using this on consoles isn't as effective as you can only go as fast as the games limit. At least when I used it turning around wasn't effortless as typical PC input normally goes, and never really felt like an advantage. Maybe I am wrong, that's fine as it is just a thought.

3 RepliesAre you seriously complaining that using a controller on PC without AA will give you a disadvantage? No sh*t sherlock. It's your choice to play at a disadvantage, the K&M option is available to you. If you want AA play on console.
-
AA is needed until i learn how to use m&kb if i ever do.
-
3 RepliesThe problem is that you don't need to buy a xim to spoof your controls. It can be done with software for free. Then you'll be messing with a whole other beast in every game controller AA > m+kb > m+kb AA

I hope and think they will remove it, if they want this game to be competitive on PC! Damn console peasants!
-
13 RepliesDon't worry. It's staying. Destiny is not competitive, everyone is having kneejerk reactions.

19 RepliesEdited by CUSTODYIN: 8/30/2017 7:55:53 PMThis is what confuses me... Every time I talk to PC players. They tell me, why play on a console? PC has such better graphics and higher framerates!!. Then I say "because I like the convenience and ability to use a controller because that's where I'm most comfortable" (among other things). Then the PC player tells me, You can use a controller on PC too! And still have the advantage of better graphics, framerates and resolutions! It's a win win!. So I say, "ok, are the controller controls optimized for PC like they are on console? Will I be able to use my aim assist to be competitive?" PC player says, NO! Aim assist is unfair and you're a scrub if you use a controller! You have to play gimped or learn to use KB/M if you want to play on our platform! It all seems very counter intuitive, a lot of PC players (not everyone), act as if they really are the master race and want to keep the platform 'pure'. They basically brag that they are better because they have a PC, tell everyone how cheap and easy it is to get into it, and then discriminate people trying to play in their comfort zone on the platform. Instead of trying or helping to find a solution, their only solution is to alienate a group of players. Even though you'd never really know if you were playing against someone with a controller or not without them telling you. I have it pre-ordered for both PS4 and PC, and now I'm severely debating whether I should have gotten it on PC or not because as toxic as the Destiny community can be, my experience has found that PC gamers are a far worse bunch to be around.

2 RepliesIf you want to keep enjoying aim assist in PVP games then stick to consoles. Aim assist or any command that helps a person be better at a game than they really are needs to stay away from PC. Taking the time to get good at a game, to get dumped on by a scrub who only needs to press LT to get snapped onto their opponent. Plenty of PC players who wanted to enjoy Destiny 1 had to adapt to a controller, so you peasants can do the same.

just have an on/off option under settings

Agree with you 100% if they remove AA from controllers in any part of D2 I will most like quit playing on PC and stick with ps4. The convenience of being able to send the game from my comptuter to my 4k tv and kick back on my couch is amazing. I shouldnt be hindered because some -blam!- boys out there are using some 3rd party program to give their mouse and keyboard AA. Destiny shoudnt become a -blam!-ing esport game anyway so it shoudnt matter.
-
Absolutely. If the remove it I will cancel. Now we have pc elitist trash here freaking out over a non-competitive space magic game...gtfo.
-
8 RepliesI don't care about inclusivity. You want to be on even footing when using controllers? You have consoles for that.

2 RepliesEdited by MrDonPotato: 8/30/2017 4:52:19 PM
- It's almost impossible and unenjoyable to play a PVP game with a controller without aim assist.
Speak for yourself, the thing that annoyed me most about D1 was that you couldn't turn that garbage off, I don't think you realise that there are a number of people out there on console who actually take the time to get good with the controller and hate on the auto aim scrubs as much as the PC master race do. Personally I think they need to completely remove auto aim from all platforms and leave people to enjoy a skill gap or do what GTA did and give people the choice to enjoy free aim or lock on aimbot each other into oblivion

8 Replies"If you remove aim assist, it gives an unfair advantage for KBnM users" Uhhhhhhh... why don't you buy keyboard and mouse for your pc? Lol
-
1 ReplyRemove the aim assist that controllers provide on pc.

Please make this game inclusive on PC for all types of players. It's the only way controller users can enjoy the game at 60fps.
Controller users can enjoy it by using a mouse and keyboard.

I am down with that. Would give my only window into playing on that platform as I don't see myself learning keyboard and mouse any time soon. I will likely be playing right on the platform I have played on for the last three years but I know it has always been said that if you play with controller on PC you are doomed. Looks like from most posts on here they are fighting to make sure it stays that way.

Edited by YoungUrameshi: 8/30/2017 8:11:52 PMIt doesn't have to be removed in PVE, but it has no place in PC PVP. The game already has 2 different settings for AA, they could leave it the same against aliens but reduce it to zero against Guardians. Kind of how they did shotgun damage in HoW
-
Sure let's keep it. We already have people exploiting it without having to purchase any additional hardware. https://www.reddit.com/r/destiny2/comments/6wyrgm/how_to_enable_aim_assist_for_mkb_on_pc/ Controllers can be used, but there's no reason to ruin the platform experience for the small minority who don't use KB and mouse. They excluded this in other competitive shooters and if they have any hope of PvP staying alive in PC, it should be removed.
-
This 100%

3 RepliesProblem isnt just AA. Keybord and mouse players can use it too. And its like an aimbot. They cant block it for KBM. They have to remove it. Or KBM players can use it. I played with AA and KBM. And i had 46 kills. Its a free aimbot.

The problem here lies with Bungie giving PC 60+ Fps and Console only 30. That is where the problem lies. AIM assist does not belong in any PC title, it belongs on the console. Bungie will lose many PC preorders if they keep Aim assist. This is not a threat, it's a reality.

Unless you have some sort of handicap, there is no reason, excuse, justification to be using a controller for a shooter on PC. Some games do have a control scheme built around using a control, like the Arkham games, and only in those limited cases is using a controller justified. Because the game is designed to use one. But no first person shooter in existence benefits from a controller. That said, PC is the platform of "play how you want" more so than any console can ever hope to be. But the issue is aim assist in PvP. You want aim assist in PvE, go for it. Even then it needs to be reduced in how effective it currently is. There is no shortage of videos of people showing that literally no aiming on their part is required. If the crosshair is anywhere near the enemy, it centers on their chest and stays there. It's basically no different than a mild aimbot that someone uses when they don't want to be obvious about it. When they want to rank people on kills at the end of Strikes, they need to tone down the aimbot in PvE for that too.

Edited by LaZeeNoVa: 8/30/2017 6:21:02 PMYes that is true. But you do have to realize that the controller users on PC are a minority And I find it awful for these people to suffer the faith of not having an equal leveling field. I do know and realize that there are actually pros in (for example) Call of Duty that don't use aim assist for their controller because it makes it much better for them. But again, those are the minority there. On PC it's the other way around, even though there's no such thing as pros. You have A majority, which is KB+M users and a Minority that uses Controllers. This aim assist allows people with KB+M to abuse it either with a XIM4 which costs money, or use a software workaround (For Free) to get an super unfair advantage both over Controller users *and* M+KB users. As the OP mentions a Mouse is more accurate than a thumbstick. So imagine that accuracy with a soft aimbot? So, you see why this is a problem? And why people complain. The Majority will complain about this. With the rare occassion talking about that Aim Assist on a controller is unfair.

I use DualShock 4 controller on PC because I am too used to it from Destiny 1 PS4. I might want auto-aim on PC controller, and also want to see an OPTION to turn ON or OFF auto aim. Right now on PC beta, auto-aim is stuck on for PC controllers and consoles, with no options to turn it off.

You dont even need a xim to enable it on pc for M&K a simple emulator will do.
