Giving everyone access to an aimbot is far worse than trying to cater to a teeny tiny minority (0.00000001% of PC FPS players) of people who want to use a controller on PC for a FPS. In exchange for catering to these goofs, you're ruining the PVP experience completely.
If you're upset that you're at a disadvantage with a CONTROLLER in a SHOOTER on PC that's YOUR PROBLEM. If you want to have a controller with aim assist, stick to the PS4 or XB1. You're arguing to keep something that ruins the experience of the majority of players just because you want to use console hardware on a PC? You would have to be pretty shortsighted and generally pretty selfish.
You don't even have to purchase the XIM4 to spoof the computer into giving you the controller aimbot while you're still using the KB/M.
There's a good reason Overwatch got rid of it. Not on consoles, of course. Plenty of needed aim assist there, but if you want to play Overwatch on PC with a controller you're placing yourself at a disadvantage, and that's the way it should be. At least, putting an aimbot ingame isn't the answer.

Considering that Destiny was originally a console game you would be surprised at how many people are wanting to play on PC using a controller. I hate to say it but your numbers are WAY off. I would actually put the number much higher at about 25%. You may think I'm wrong but considering how many people purchased PC's just to play D2 on PC is staggering. Many of them have never played mouse and keyboard so obviously they are going to play with how they are comfortable, using a controller. My stance? I don't care what they end up doing as I will play using M&K because I know I can out play a controller user with snappy head shots and easy to control hip fire.

Who are you quoting and why?

Myself because you seem to have skimmed right over that part.

I've shortly tested controller vs KBM and KBM is more accurate. Even with aim assist it is more accurate. With the same situation, same guns, same level. I always play FPS games with controller so I'm quite trained in use with the controller and FPS games but even though I'm not at all used to KBM I was still able to hit more precision shots with KBM than I was with my controller. People like me, that want to use a controller the Aim Assist is simply required. I've played games without Aim Assist on controllers and it's not harder than with KBM; It's simply impossible. People who would like to have Aim Assist removed simply don't know how much the controllers actually need this feature. Also keep in mind that there are a lot of Destiny 1 players that have played 3 years on a controller and know how the game functions and they get pitted against Destiny 2 PC players (with KBM) that have limited knowledge of what they are doing or need to be doing in order to win a fight. It might simply be the influx of experienced console players switching to the PC. There are also users on this forum (or any forum) that say "git gud or go to console" but obviously I want the glorius 100fps Ultra Wide screen experience that my console can't give me. And I'm not giving up my controller up for that.

I use controller when I play Overwatch on PC. I wouldn't call it impossible, but it's certainly less forgiving. That said, Destiny plays to a more casual audience, so comforts like AA and controller support are expected, and for good reason. Dropping AA entirely to satisfy the hardcore MKB PvP scene is stupid.

I agree, but we all know Bungie caters to the lowest common denominator. :(

Never knew how whiney The PC master race was till I saw these forums lol. Just enjoy the game dude, if you think taking out AA will make you super MLG / 420 / Neckbeard edition, you're sorely mistaken. They're plenty of fast paced, competitive, M/K shooters out already. Go show off your neckbeard in those threads instead.

Edited by Cry: 8/30/2017 5:07:01 AMController users on PC make up a fair bit of the playerbase, or they would if their peripheral was actually a competitive option compared to MBK. Controller is actually a viable option, and MKB players immediately try to ruin it. But hey, they call PC toxic for a reason... Also, where is this notion coming from that AA = Aimbot? It makes it easier to track a moving player, but it doesn't aim for you.
-
The PC community is toxic? Have you not been in these forums for the past 3 years? I need a rowboat to traverse the river tears anytime I come to these forums.

https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/230333336/0/0/1 Not saying consoles aren't toxic, but...
-
Not even 2 days after this includes PC players the forums are flooded by AA nerf/removal threads. Also, I'm not saying the console playerbase isn't toxic, just that PC is.
-
Have you actually used it? I tried it out combining mouse with aim assist and my aim was automatically snapping to heads with it. I was aiming at the chest and the AA auto snapped to their heads. It makes HCs absolutely unimaginable in terms of how strong they become when every shot is a HS.
-
So you admit to cheating then? Standard MKB has no AA.
-
If it's one in ten thousand players I'd be shocked. It's a tiny minority. The only people using controllers in D2 on PC right now are people actively seeking out the unfair advantage that the aimbot provides. And it effectively IS an aimbot, especially when spoofed to still work while using a mouse and keyboard. It locks on extremely effectively and from vast distances. Controller in racing games and third person beat em ups? Absolutely. Rocket League, Witcher 3, and Dark Souls are prime examples. Much better with a controller. No need for any kind of automated assistance to be effective with it there. If you need autoaim to make a controller viable on PC, a controller does not need to be viable on PC. Again, look at Overwatch. Does fine. Controller isn't viable. They tried the autoaim thing and everything everyone is saying now was being said then. They promptly took it out to keep the PVP (the only aspect of that game) intact. When making a controller viable means putting an aimbot ingame, then the better option is to leave that for the XB1/PS4.

Probably a very material portion of the existing Destiny playerbase that came from, and will continue to play, the console versions at the same time of playing the PC version will be using controllers on the PC.
-
Highly doubt that I'm 1/1000 for PC controller users. I had been planning to use controller months before the console beta.
-
I would disagree with you regarding controllers on the PC. If I want to kick back and play a game like Destiny 2 in PVE mode on a 70" television from the comfort of my couch, I'll pick a controller all day long. If I want to play competitive PVP, mouse and keyboard all the way. But, I'm doing that from my desk. This goes back to the OP's point. Leave aim assist how it is for PVE *only*. Get rid of it for PVP. If people really want to use the controller for PVP, fine. Let them, but don't give them cheats for it.
-
The only place where disabling AA should even be considered, if at all, is the competitive playlist. But even then, there's no ranking system (or at least one that matters), so why does it really matter? Consoles have been dealing with MKB+AA users (cheaters) for 2-3 years, and you guys couldn't get through a single day before throwing a fit about controllers having AA on PC. Deal with it.
-
This is probably the only compromise I would accept. Someone using autoaim in PVE wouldn't really bother me that much. But it completely ruins the PVP half of the game on PC.
