Destiny 2 Beta Mutes All Other Sounds?

I was talking to my friends in discord when I first loaded up the game and all of a sudden I couldn't hear them. I waited until the cut scene was over and closed / reopened Discord but no sound was playing yet again. I then opened up Chrome to see if I could listen to a youtube video and that sound didn't work. Then I went to test my Playback Device and used the "Test" where it plays a sound in the left ear then the right ear to show that everything's working and nothing played. The ONLY sound that works while in Destiny 2 for me is the game sound. I've tried muting music, unmuting music, muting background sound, unmuting it opening programs in different orders, opening other programs in Admin mode etc etc... The only time I can seem to get it to work is when I change from Fullscreen to Windowed and having the Discord window as the vocal point and that only sometimes works? But as soon as I get back into the game every other sound stops working again. Anyone else having this problem? Windows 7 64-Bit, AMD Phenom(tm) 9950 Quad-Core Processor 2.60 ghz, 8GB Ram, GeForce GTX 750 Ti

  • 1st time posting, but I found a work around. When you go to Playback Devices > Default Device > Properties Go to the Advanced Tab (if you have that option), Un-select "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" I launch my music/movie app in the background first, then launch Destiny 2. ***Note: Destiny 2 must be in windowed mode (borderless or fullscreen). Let a bro know if this helped. Cheers!

    • I made a post about this as well but I'm having the exact same issue in Windowed Fullscreen mode. I've never had any other application act this way. I've also found that any sound playing when the game starts will continue to play. It only affects sounds that try to start AFTER the game has launched, so mostly all of them.

Got exactly the same problem. Maybe it has to do with the soundcard? Mine is an ASUS Xonar DGX and I have Windows 7 too. Interesting is that Spotify works and Spotify is the only program which is not in the Windows 7 volume control. In addition I cant hear the ingame voice of my mates speaking too. They can hear me when I activate my microphone but I cant hear them I only see that they are talking. Its really annoying playing with friends and you cant hear them :/ Edit: Actually its a bug from the game found another game where it occured on some players until it was fixed. The game mutes every other program in the same Audio Channel since Spotify isnt in my case it doesnt get muted. I really hope they fixed it when the game comes out.
