As someone who likes to keep their anonymity while playing I was dishearted when I entered a comment into chat only for my real name to fly up and find the option of showing my real name was automatically selected.
Not only that but the option is vague enough that I can't tell if the option stops other people from seeing my name or if it just stops me from seeing others real names.
Anyone have any clarification on what's actually happening with it?

Bungie doesn't care about your privacy, they just want your money

I read there was a "turn off real name" setting. Can't confirm atm, though.

I've heard people say that while YOU always see your real name, others don't unless they're on your friends list. That's also how it works in PSN.

Also came across this MAJOR issue, this is a privacy leak and has to be treated with the highest priority Simply put, it´s using the BLIZZARD REAL ID function of battle.net, except they -blam!-ed up big time. In Battle.net you can add your friends to your REAL ID list, and only those who added you as REAL ID friends actually see your real name. Here it just says -blam!- YOUR Privacy and tells everyone your John Doe Heres my original topic https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/230293479
