I can only put the game in 4k resolution (3840x2160) if the game is in windowed/borderless window mode...
In fullscreen/windowed fullscreen the options cap at 1080p.... (1920x1080)...
Is this intentional, or am I missing something?

Same thing is happening to me. I can't even access my graphics card to fix it like the other guys here.
-
Just an FYI ... I don't think this is a 4K only issue. I also cannot get fullscreen at 1080p on my Razer Blade GTX 1060. Also, I do not see the setting referenced to try to fix it in my Nvidia panel.

3 RepliesI found a fix that allowed me to get 1920x1080 fullscreen, maybe it'll work for you 4K guys, as well. Nvidia Control Panel > Adjust Desktop Size and Position > Perform Scaling on Display. Seems the game likes to throw a fit if you have Perform Scaling set to GPU.

2 RepliesI have the same exact problem as you Mihoshi. I contacted everyone I could at Bungie and Blizzard. Only Blizzard got back to me and said it was something on Bungie's end (didn't hurt to try and rattle everyone's chain).

2 RepliesCame here because of the same dang problem! I only get the 3840x2160 option in "Windowed" and "Borderless Windowed". I've now got the game running in "Fullscreen Windowed" with the resolution at 2560x1440, which makes text and menus look like 4k but the game looks like it's being rendered in 1440p. Really annoying. So no true 4k and of course worse performance than Fullscreen and no HDR... Setup: Win 10, 3840x2160 @ 200% scaling GTX 980 i7 5960X 4k HDR display through HDMI

Finally have it fixed, check out my response to JohanGasmask's post just below!

5 RepliesEdited by Gasmask218: 8/29/2017 10:47:33 PMHaving the same issue with 1080p 60hz fullscreen. The highest available resolution is 1680x1050, 1920x1080 isn't even listed. EDIT- FIX FOUND: Nvidia Control Panel > Adjust Desktop Size and Position > Perform Scaling on Display. Seems the game likes to throw a fit if you have Perform Scaling set to GPU.

I noticed that the game is not using its own HDR output, but rather just enabling the shitty Windows 10 HDR mode.
-
Same issue, had to run at 1080p with 200% render scale to get a taste of HDR. They need to fix for full game for sure. 1080ti with lg c6.

Same here. Running a 1060 with 6GB ram on the card. can only go to 1920. Set display to smallest 100% in Windows 7. Can't get anything over 1920 to show in any of the selections ( windowed, etc. ) Bungie, you gotta fix this shit bro.

1 ReplyEdited by tikiman: 8/29/2017 9:10:21 PMSame here, 4K just isn't available in fullscreen on a Panasonic 4K TV with a GTX1080Ti. Only proper resolution I can choose in fullscreen is 1080p, all other available resolutions are like 2560x1200 or 2048x1080. I have never seen any other game behave like that in fullscreen, so I'm pretty sure it's a game specific bug. Also borderless window doesn't work properly for me, task bar is still visible and the window is off center. What does work is using a Display Port to HDMI adapter, with that I can choose 3840x2160 in fullscreen, but HDR will limit this to 30fps.

same here, I can only put 4k in windowed mode
-
1 ReplySame problem - highest I can go with my 4k TV is Full HD, not even 2560x1440 or 4k. Any other game I play is working perfectly.

Similar issue. I can only use 4K in windowed or borderless windowed mode. In full screen and windowed full screen, the highest resolution option is 1080p. Windows 10, GTX 1080, i7 4770k, 16GB ram, Vizio 4k tv

I have a 1080p Monitor. The highest res i can get fullscreen is 1600 x 1024. but in windowed mode I can get 1920 x 1080. Its kinda annoying, they really havent addressed this either

1 ReplyEdited by CriPPleR: 8/29/2017 2:58:57 PMI have a similar issue. I can't select 3840x2160 when fullscreen is selected. The highest option I have under fullscreen is 2560x1440. I am running a Titan X pascal connected to my new LG C7 oled. Please fix before beta ends. The reason I pre-ordered was to check out 4K HDR.

I am another one experiencing the same. Highest the resolution setting will go is 1440p on my 4k TV with a 1080Ti, whether it be fullscreen, windowed fullscreen, or borderless windowed.

2 Repliesall fine here running 4k full screen

Same issue. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I have not been able to get 4K to work in full screen, even messing with settings, config files, DPI scaling, and windows display scaling.... I have been able to put the game in "Windowed Fullscreen" (so the mouse doesn't click your desktop) and set the resolution to 1080p, then in the graphics settings, set the Render Resolution to 200%. Basically this makes the game run in 4K, but unless you have really awesome hardware your frame rate will suck this way, it's windowed instead of fullscreen = fps drop, and it's 'doubling' the render resolution = fps drop. It's like running 4 copies of 1080p at once vs running 1 copy at 4K, so you need some serious GPU/CPU to do this. Side note, if you do this in "Windowed" or "Borderless Window" mode, you can set the resolution to 4K and set the render resolution to 200% and run the game at '8K', it won't look different, unless you have an 8K monitor, somehow...., but you will get to watch your computer melt as it tries to run the game at effectively 8K.... Doing this, I get about 10-15 fps at fake 8K.... Intel core i7 6700k GTX1070 x2 in SLI 16GB Ram

Chiming in on this as well. Trying to play this via my 4k HDR capable television in fullscreen with SLI. Fullscreen Resolution is capped at 1368p strangely enough. Both 1440p and 2160p are not available as options. Playing in windowed mode negates this, but I lose the benefits of SLI and HDR. Additionally, HDR doesn't seem to work at all. If anything, the game seems to look worse when enabled. Colors and contrast look better when this option is turned off. I know for sure that it isn't the TV as it has been calibrated and my other HDR content looks superb. Additionally, enabling HDR at any other resolution above 1080p forces the game into borderless fullscreen, which of course negates the effects of HDR (not that I'm seeing any improvements). Can't test HDR with higher standard 16:9 resolutions (1440p & 2160p) due to those resolutions being locked out as I've already mentioned. I've tried several solutions, including those shared in this thread and manually adjusting the cvar.xml in the Destiny 2 Pref folder inside AppData to enable my chosen resolutions. So far no luck. Keeping an eye out. Hoping this gets resolved soon.

1 ReplyEdited by Arrahant: 8/28/2017 8:48:00 PMI have exactly the same issue. I can only play in 4k in borderless or windowed. In windowed I can also select 3840 x 2098. The maximum resolution I can pick in fullscreen is 2560 x 1600. Also, when I set it to 1440p fullscreen, the screen is not filled out across the screen. I literally have 1/3 of the image in use with a big fat black border surrounding the image. The only way I can play fullscreen HDR, is setting the game to 1440p, then use my tv's zoom functions to zoom in on the 1440p image. Not optimal...
