...and what about the thousands of trans Americans currently serving? Are they unfit, also?

In this thread; many people don't understand that gender and sex aren't always synonymous.

It really can cause an issue in team cohesion and trust between teammates. If you don't have that, the whole system fails. When I was in Basic we had someone come out and tell everyone he was a bisexual. The ripples that came off of that caused several issues that crippled us as a team. It's not necessarily the person being transgender that's the issue, it's the unknown responses of the people that will be around him. You just can't take that risk when you need to be able to trust the person next to you with your life.

5 RepliesI'm just a private in the Marine Corps. I have no combat experience and only just got out of SOI. (School of Infantry) I'm not sure what the best option is. The military should do what's best for military operations, not what makes the occasional joe shmo happy. But maybe those occasional joe smoes are good for military operations. What is true and isn't is beyond my knowledge. So I preach caution and calm considerations.

1 ReplyTo borrow a line from Spock "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one" First there is the physiological issue. Currently, any transgendered person is serving as their birth gender and only being their trans self after last formation. Why? PT test. Males and females have different standards for the PT test. (Correct me if I'm wrong here.) And you can't have a biological female taking the male standard PT test, because she would never pass it. Or at the very least score lower than her male counter parts. Which would put her at a disadvantage when it comes to career advancement. In the flip side of that coin, you have a transgender female take a female standard PT test and smoke the sh*t out of it. Which would give her an unfair advantage over her biologically female counter parts. The PT standards are different due to the differences in physiology between males and females. SCIENCE! And you can't have a transgendered male taking a female PT test, because that would be unfair to all the other males. And same goes for transgendered females taking a male PT test. The next bit is about the effect it has on the command structure and those serving in it. What you are asking for is to force one person's lifestyle choice on an entire company, battalion, brigade. There is no room for snowflakes in the military. We must operate in a cohesive manner which is conducive to mission success. You're probably asking if the homosexual community can serve, how are the transgendered any different. Simple, when the average homosexual shows up for duty, they are exactly who they are. Male and female, as defined by society and science. They typically don't have gender dysphoria. What they do in their bedrooms is of no consequence to anyone they serve with and doesn't disrupt good order and discipline. Which is why it made perfect sense to allow them to serve openly. The transgendered community is something all together different. You know it and I know it. Serving requires them to hide who they truly feel they are. And that is a disservice to themselves and all of us.

'Pretty sure salamanders are too small to hold a rifle. Educate yourself, Max.

Do some research
-
Because they refuse to let me have their dog. I want a cool golden retriever too wtf
-
They could wind up being section 8's and cause injury to others or themselves. Also if they get hit down there, their complex situation just gets more messy and expensive.
-
I've already made a huge argument for why they shouldn't serve and I don't want to retype it so if you want to see it, go to the other big transgender military service post.
...and what about the thousands of trans Americans currently serving? Are they unfit, also?
1) the military shouldn't have to cover the costs of their treatment. 2) the military shouldn't have to deal with the logistical issues of accommodating their needs. 3) military service is not a right. 4) id say yeah, give them the boot.

1 ReplyWhy is this tending again.

2 RepliesIf world war 3 breaks out, I wonder how many Americans will suddenly become trans.
-
Because our Dear Leader says so.
-
Honestly, I think we shouldn't ban them, but I don't think we should pay for their transition surgery.

2 Replies3/10. Not enough effort put into this one.

10 RepliesWait, aren't you the same guy that advocates for dearming those with mental illnesses. And don't give me that whole "trangenderism isn't a mental illness". Gender Dysphoria is in the dsm and an accepted mental illness. Christ, liberals are -blam!-ing idiots.
-
2 RepliesBecause the gov doesn't want to pay for their treatment Also, mental disorders are not allowed in the military
-
12 RepliesI don't know why people are so against it. If someone is willing to lay down their life for their country they should be allowed to.
-
22 RepliesAll men combat units are the more efficient combat units. Mixing anything else in reduces efficiency. It's not that trans people are necessarily unfit to serve, but their presence simply reduces the efficiency of the whole unit.
-
10 RepliesYou aren't in the military. You wouldn't understand.
-
30 RepliesBecause only real MEN AND WOMAN should serve
-
1 ReplyBecause all wars are fake?

27 RepliesThe bigots will be hard presssed to provide a valid reason. Thanks Trump.

There's a fine line. If said trans person was depressed, I wouldn't want them in the military, but otherwise there really shouldn't be an issue. As long as their mentally fit and willing to serve...

2 RepliesIt's a mental illness. This could lead to a massive can of worms. Best to nip it in bud now.
