But what problem does it solve? I don't understand how it will add any challenge since you were never forced to swap loadouts in Destiny 1. It will only narrow the play style further, which is what people were initially upset about. As far as Nightfalls go, that's kind of counter intuitive to incentivize people to rush through the strike, then boot them to orbit for failing. Again, there is nothing stopping you from re-starting the strike if you wipe. I'm not even against getting kicked back to orbit, but to keep the timer seems counter-intuitive. Swapping weapons between encounters meant that the game design encouraged use of different situational weapons. Which I thought was a good thing.

  • It doesn't solve any problems. It creates problems...because pvp.

  • I don't think it was to fix a problem or balance something. Luke Smith stated that they were looking at ways to make the top tier end game content more challenging. I don't really see how it'll create the situation to be more challenging. How often do you really change you load outs doing a nightfall or in the middle of a raid boss fight?

  • In raids I generally change between encounters. In nightfalls I sometimes run the majority of the strike with high AoE weapons and swap to more concentrated DPS weapons for the boss. I also enjoy swapping subclasses and perks in the middle of strikes sometimes. Why do I have all of these choices if I'm not expected to use them?

  • Like I said, I can't see Bungie not allowing you to change load outs in between encounters during to raid. It would be pointless because people are just going to bounce out to orbit if some needs to change something. At that point it's an item that's more annoying than challenging. I think the "lock" will come into play once the encounter is started. As for Nightfalls, it's once per week. Be honest with yourself. Nightfalls need something to bring up the challenge. You'll now have to plan a little better and allocate jobs to people in the fireteam. HM raids, trails, and nightfalls are supposed to be top tier end game content that has the highest level of challenge and requires the highest level of coordination of a fire team. With Locked load outs on these activities it adds to that aspect. I wont be surprised if trails is also locked. Honestly, I just wish Bungie would've went more this direction. Allowing customization with armor, weapons, and classes that made people play more of specific rolls, rather than everyone just running around shooting shit.
