Two Paths

I realize the Age of Triumph was intended to be the community's end of Destiny 1 celebration activity/reward. But I can't help but consider what this last month (August) has been like. With Trials and Iron Banner ending, Xur still selling the same old stock, and weekly activities remaining the same as they've been for months it appears Bungie has made a strategic choice. In short remove any incentive/reason for customers to continue playing Destiny 1 - thereby increasing the likelihood they will move to D2, perhaps out of sheer boredom with the prior game if for no other reason. Now, just about three weeks prior to the D2 launch, it's clear this is the path/strategic decision they've made. Another option/path, and certainly one I believe would have generated more enthusiasm, would be to incorporate some of the suggestions made here on these forms. For example, Xur sells Raid Specific loot, a mechanism to complete unfinished bounties, opening the lighthouse just for a visit,..etc. This would have shown a degree of customer appreciation and goodwill toward the community, likely motivated more year one players to consider D2 (as they feel valued), and reduced the notion that Bungie has simply abandoned its base. I would imagine there's many players like me that will reach the end of Destiny 1 with a number of unfinished quests, weapons that were never acquired, and Trials/ IB Bounties still in the queue that are partially complete...etc. As it stands now, the reality for me is these will never be completed. This just leaves me with the feeling that the Destiny1 experience is incomplete with no real opportunity for completion. And this impacts my decision making about D2 adversely. Why should I move to D2 only to expect there'll be aspects of it that I'll likely never complete. After all, that was my Destiny 1 experience. EDIT: I want to be clearer. Above, when I wrote: "...incorporate some of the suggestions made here on these forms. For example, Xur sells Raid Specific loot, a mechanism to complete unfinished bounties, opening the lighthouse just for a visit,..etc." I was merely restating thoughts I had read previously on these forms. The larger point, is Bungie's lack of interest in adding any reason to continue to play. You may defend Bungie's decision to your heart's content, my point is they perhaps missed an opportunity to excite and entice D1 players to purchase D2 by making the final weeks rewarding and fun to play. For me personally, I would have been much more inclined to pre-order if the current experience didn't leave me feeling like they no longer value their current customer. And customers that no longer feel valued tend to leave.
