Why is No one Talking about this?

According to the latest TWAB, D2 will have two different pvp matchmaking options. 1.) Quickplay. One will focus on getting you into a match with a good connection quickly, but has less emphasis on skill. You may be matched with people who are outside your skill level and comfort zone, but you will get into matches quicker. It's a trade-off basically. 2.) Competitive. The second option will place a greater emphasis on skill and find matches with good connections and people who are closer in skill to you for a more "fair" fight basically. Matchmaking will take longer for you to find a team, but the gameplay experience will be better. These changes basically allow "sbmm" (I use that term loosely) for people who want it, and "less sbmm" for those who don't want it. This sounds like a great change and a way to make everyone happy. I havnt seen any posts about this which is very surprising considering how big of a deal sbmm vs cbmm was over the last few years. All the "get rid of sbmm" and "Bungie lied to us about sbmm" stuff that dominated these forums. You would think this would be a trending topic, but it's not. Just a few months ago "sbmm" was blamed for almost every issue. Lag, ghost bullets, peoples k/d and w/L ratio, amazon packages coming late, the patriots winning the super bowl, etc. Lol Instead, now people are whining about abilities being a bit more rare, but more powerful. Interesting what people lose their minds over and choose to focus on. Does anybody care about these changes? Or am I the only one who gives a damn about this topic that dominated these forums for years?! Here's what Bungie said for those who didn't read TWAB:
Quickplay Matchmaking times will be shorter, with less emphasis on Skill. This is the fastest route to a game, but you may face opponents outside of your comfort zone. The winning score in Control has been extended from 75 to 100 to allow for more time to play and use your abilities. Because too many matches were shorter than we expected (some Guardians weren’t even able charge their Super) we’ve extended the trigger for the Mercy rule so it will come into play less often. Competitive Matchmaking takes more time to introduce you to players that are closer to you in skill with a good connection. These matchmaking settings may take longer, but we feel that the quality of the gameplay experience will be worth the wait. We have also made improvements to the way we calculate your skill in Countdown to better reflect how you’ll perform against your opponents. We always use an element of your skill rating when we match you with opponents or teammates, whether in a pre-made Fireteam or going in solo. In all cases, the average rating of the team is taken into account when looking for matches. As always, we’ll be eager to hear from you all about how this feels.
• Probably because every PvP game is now limited to 4v4, effectively eliminating casual PvP and turning all of crucible into sweaty ToO mode.

I love reading the forums because I honestly feel that D2 is the result of listening directly to user feedback and that they checked off, so far, as much as they could from that list. I would have expected people to be amazed and relieved but many posters just keep expressing that they are freaking out, that they are not being listened to, glossing over any positives. No one seems to remember, by the way, when Cozmo would post about a patch and list all the things from the community list that had been addressed. All of what we see and have in this game is from many compromises which is the only way to make things work for millions of people with different opinions.

            • Well ain't that just peachy for the PvP crowd. Grand! Now, everybody gets to stomp somebody. Have fun dukin' it out with teammates for a sniff of the power ammo. Gonna be a bunch junkies hanging around street corners. Meanwhile, back at the pve ranch... I get to go into battle with a fusion rifle or a short as my (Heavy). I don't like it. Balance... yeah.

Well there should be some SBMM in quickplay still, like negative KD separated from positive KD players. Or let's hope so anyway lol.

              • Good point. I was actually pretty happy over this, yet everyone else just filters out the good stuff. Here's an example: Bungie: Look what we did! No more special ammo, no more ridiculous class movement, no stupid grenades, no ability spam, and the Iron Temple is back! Babies: WAIT WHAT???!!! YOU'VE RESKINNED THE IRON TEMPLE AND SOLD IT TO US AS NEW CONTENT???!!! PRE ORDER CANCELLED, DAY 1 PLAYER, 1500 HOURS LOGGED... (You get the point)

                  • Does anyone else feel like they got it backwards? I mean when I play control, it's because I enjoy it. It should be with people on my skill level, and I am ok with the slightly longer wait time...it's a casual game mode. If I wanted to be competitive...perhaps looking to learn something new to improve my game. The first thing that comes to mind is choosing to play against someone better than my self...

                        • Sounds good, only one issue I see potentially happening. Plenty of players already feel pressured to use alternate methods to get high rankings and raise their stupid ELO score. This competitive flair on the SBMM queue might draw these same people and their bull over to a normal playlist (basically not Trials or IB, endgame PvP). Think of it as an infection.

                            • As a crucible solo player for D1 I was over 1.5 k/d towards the end of season 1 of destiny (before TTK). Then I took a slow nose dive for many reason but the stability of crucible games with certain balances and Ghost Bullets made me upset. I really hope there's improvement because PVP is an ongoing challenge when PVE is finished.

                            • I think it was more so the misinformation circulating and people not understanding the p2p system. People tried to blame sbmm or cbmm but in the end Destiny's netcode was terrible and there was no region settings to limit continental jumping. You will see the same issues in D2 after player drop happens again and when there is no one near you playing at the same time because of bad ping rates. This is what you get with p2p unfortunately and their choice to keep it this way despite their convoluted explanations of a new system with cloud servers. I will believe it when I see it, and that's my new motto for Bungie. When there is viable proof to their statements then I will believe and give it a try until then I'll play it smarter this time around.

                              • If you believe for 1 second they fixed this, you're deluded. They've lied so many times regarding sbmm, even denying it existed at one point, then saying it was being tweaked a few weeks later. 2 things to think about, most importantly they're trying to sells a game and quell the hate about incompetence, so they'll say whatever they need to. The last time they said this, they just wiped their internal elo system, felt good for 2 days then was back to normal. Secondly it won't improve 1 bit until they have regionalised settings. You can have 5 guys with gigabyte fibre in the same lobby, but if they're from 5 continents there'll be issues in a P2P system. They also have netcode issues regarding fireteams, that still hasn't been addressed and will still happen. Also why has no one asked why have they removed all bars from PvP? Reason is they can't fix the red bars due to refusing stubbornly to believe there's anything wrong with their worldwide mm bull. PvP will crash n burn, super quick on pc, n competitive? My arseeeee
