Is the Traveler a dysion sphere prison for Worm God's?!
Greetings everyone Id just like to say that this is a fan theory of the Traveler and its origin. So please take what I have to say with a grain of salt.
So as my theory goes, I believe that the Travel is a prison for the Worm God Alpha Lupi. I believe that sometime long ago, the Worm God's warred amongst each other over the fate of their powers. The powers of the Light and the Darkness.
Before this war, I believe the Worm God's would often enslave and conquer lower races. I don't think the Worm God's required Tribute, as their offspring often do (as we see from the Hive). This war began with Alpha Lupi (and perhaps other unknown Worm Gods) against all others. In the end, Alpha Lupi was defeated but wasn't killed, instead he/she/it was imprisoned. Why? So he/she/it could watch as they killed and conquered. A sick and crule punishment.
At this time perhaps the Traveler escaped. Finding a race, or group of races and with its knowledge of the Light, it showed these lower races how to defend themselves (which they did, perhaps even using gaudains) they defeated the Worm Gods and sealed them away within one Traveler like orb and set it adrift in space to become one of the planets many moons. As time went on, gas clouds found its way and surrounded the prison becoming a Gas Giant. A Gas Giant called Fundament. The home of the Krill people or as we call them today, the Hive.
For anyone who doesn't know the Hive lore, three sisters traveled to the core of their planet while being lead by the corpse of a dead Worm. Trying the escape the end of their planet and get revenge. On their way to the core they are met by Leviathan (a fellow worm God but one who was on the Traveler s side of the war) who tells them not to go any further. They do regardless and find the planets core, enter through a cave and there they find the Worm Gods trapped. The sisters free them, become immortal and leave their home world to space. Where the now Hive wadge war against the Traveler and its lower races. The lower races are killed and the Traveler is forced to flee. Hoping to find a race that it can once again teach so that it can defeat the hive and the Darkness.
In other words, the Traveler is trying to raise an army to defeat the darkness but before it can truely teach the races what they need to know, the darkness attacks. When the Traveler found earth, the darkness attacked and just as the Traveler prepared to leave, it was crippled by Rasputin. With no choice, the Traveler (Alpha Lupi) created its own worms (the ghosts) to find guardians and give them the means to protect it and defeat the darkness (or at least hold the darkness off)
The reason Alpha Lupi doesn't leave it's prison is because it cant, it was so badly wounded in the war that the prison is the only safe spot where he can recover. Until he is ready, then Alpha Lupi with break free and lead it's army against the Hive and the Darkness.
So that's my theory, please feel free to tell me what you think. Thank you

Why do people still believe that Rasputin actually damaged the traveller? Yes, he had contingencies prepared in case the traveller left, but they were never activated. Also, the traveller made it perfectly clear in the grimoire cards that "this is the place I will stay and fight" (The Traveller 2).

1 ReplyEdited by bobswerski: 8/15/2017 6:32:28 PMWhoa. Other than the ghosts being a sortof-parallel to worm larve, that's well past spinfoil hat crazy. 1) If she's still in the prison, how exactly has she escaped from the prison? Alternately, if you can just move it, is it actually a prison? Also: They are really bad at making prisons. 2) You'd think the worm gods would mention that they were betrayed by one of their own when explaining to the Hive why the Traveler is their enemy and they should join up to fight it.There's no logical reason whatsoever for them to leave that part out, it's hard to think of a more sympathetic story than one of your former allies turning on you.

Evervurse dude went in there and said it smelled like vanilla

Nope. If anything the interior was what Ghost Fragment Ghost details. Concept art of the interior supports the card. However this is early lore. The lore has been changing over the course of D1 and will see greater changes as D2 develops. So I wouldn't bother speculating too hard on the subject.

Interesting theory, but ghost memories suggest that the bottled existence inside the traveler is a heaven of sorts, iirc.

Interesting theory, would be an amazing way for this too end

10 RepliesIt's not, dear, fundament was the prison for the worm gods. The Traveller was its Warden of sorts and the leviathan was a guard. But the hive found them so the Traveller fled.
