Has anyone else noticed...? The 'PvP keeps the game alive' people have been pretty quiet in recent weeks. Destiny is on the ground, bleeding out, and the smoking gun is in PvP's hand.

  • The PvP community obviously doesn't think Destiny will be dead straight out of the gate. That's you people.

  • I don't think it'll be D.O.A. I do, however, think it'll suffer in retail performance, because many PvE-focused players such as myself see no compelling reason to buy it. I'm a staunch advocate of the 'vote with your wallet' concept, and I have no intention of voting for Bungie when they've shown very little to garner my interest as a PvE-focused player. Next, you'll want to reply with the 'They've greatly improved PvE, they said so!' argument. Well... I've learned, over the last three years, to take everything Bungie says with a grain of salt. In other words: I'll believe it when I see it.

  • Recently on Reddit there was a post about an Edge cover story on Destiny. There are reportedly 80 story missions, and each one has substance, supposedly. This is off the top of my head; I don't remember the words. From what I've read about the game, it seems like they are putting in a lot of effort to make the PvE experience complete and worthwhile. This is without taking into account what Bungie have said themselves; only what others have said (magazines, publications, podcasts, etc).. My stance is that having less ability usage should not influence whether or not one tries out the game, because it will succeed on its own merit. At least that's what it seems like to me. But I digress. Your point is valid; if you don't agree with the new direction, don't play. It is how I see video gaming as well. However, it remains to be seen how much of what Bungie said will be true. It is safe to "believe when you see" as you said. But if Destiny 2 turns out to be greatly improved, and in accordance with what Bungie described, then it will prove that my faith in them was not misplaced. I don't think I will be disappointed. And if people take time to understand the kind of game Bungie is trying to create, I think they will also not be disappointed.
