Is there any news on reaching max light without trails and raids. I'm not to fond of either as I hate trials and it's community and raids are just painful and full of elitist people who put you down if you mess up. I'm thinking stuff like packages and iron banner stuff I can do my myself and grind out without needing anyone else.
Edit: some people think I mean d1 I mean d2

1 ReplyRaids are not painful, are actually fun and what make this game for many.
-
1 ReplyHaven't seen a definitive confirmation on that yet. My guess is raiding will not be necessary to achieve max light, since they're making the game easier.
-
You'll only hit max light by landing the final hit on the raid boss or getting the last kill in the flawless match in whatever replaces Trials. Until then it'll be forever 1 below.
Bungie gotta increase the grind somehow now weapons have static rolls
1 ReplyStrikes, faction packages, Archon's Forge, exotics (from 3oC, nightfalls, etc) All these are good sources of gear up to 400 light. I would have added Iron Banner to the list but you've just missed that. I'm not sure whether regular crucible also drops gear up to 400. I think there are probably a lot more people who get to 400 light without raids and Trials than with them.

They removed the need to do raids to reach 400, don't see them putting it back in. Would be a terrible move but who knows with this bunch.

Meaning the answer to your question seems to be no. You'll probably have to raid a bit in vanilla to Max out.

Strikes and Faction packages

You know how bungo is with it's need for content. Probably not. There is always the choice to join a clan, It's not the best because then it's the logistics of getting a group ready at the same time (as the leader of a small clan it kinda stinks, I even make rosters and give out gold star stickers;)) I'm hopeful though.

4 RepliesU shouldn't be able to be the most powerful u can be without doing the most difficult activities
-
2 RepliesWhy bother playing the game and avoiding the activities that are the most fun?

Destiny is a primarily multiplayer game. Now, don't get me wrong, in multiplayer games, it is still important that there be content for the solo audience, as there most of the time is in games. However, in almost every primarily multiplayer game, it is impossible to be the most powerful you can be with out working with others. Being able to reach max power is a multiplayer game as a solo player doesn't really make sense to me, but maybe it does to you. I am totally okay with something being added that enough people want. Plus, if you haven't at least tried to do the raids with others, I highly, highly suggest doing so. The raids are, in my opinion, unquestionably the best part of Destiny. Find an LFG group (which I know can be difficult, put down the pitchforks) and/or join a clan with the kind of people you like to play with. The first raid I played, Crota's End, is to this day, probably the most fun I have ever had in a video game, despite being regarded as the worst of the raids. Second to that, I would place my first Oryx kill, the only raid I went into blind. And third, I would then place my first Atheon kill. Completing an incredibly difficult challenge is insanely satisfying thing alone, but killing Oryx after fighting blindly through that raid was one of the most difficult things I have done in a game. Some of my best friends were with me when Oryx fell. I have met only one of those five people in real life. Destiny has such a unique, interesting raiding experience that it would be a crime to push it away out of nervousness, introversion, or whatever else has ever pushed anyone away from a raid. I sincerely ask you to join the raiding community at the launch of D2, we need everyone we can get.

I did It on my hunter without doing either of the last 2 raids. It's a grind but possible!
-
I bet they still will through crucible bounties and if ib comes back. Maybe exotic engrams. Would be a longer grind, but fair in my opinion.

I don't get people like this. Destiny is a massive multiplayer game built to play with or against other players. I can understand the frustration against Trials, but not doing raids is missing out on arguably the best content of the game, and almost every dlc or game has people asking to get to max light without playing it... Idk about getting to max light, but if D2 is anything like D1, you should be able to get close to max light without raids. And considering being max light is only helpful in raids and trials, I wouldn't worry about getting to max light since you don't wanna do those. Or you can tough it out a bit and try some raid attempts (maybe after looking up how do to it since you don't like being given crap for messing up) and see if you can find good group to complete it. After that, friend the guys you liked playing with and repeat.

Raids are fun if you build a group of friends to play with.
-
Do the right thing and people won't put you down
-
So what's the point of being max light if you don't do any of the activities that would need you to be max light?
-
We don't even know what the max light is
-
I'll probably be raiding with LFG randoms and what not if I'm into the game 20 trys for a win is still a win. God I hope trials gets a redesign. Other methods are useful.
-
I've never understood why Bungie made max light possible without endgame play. It really makes no sense. I mean, if you don't play endgame content, max light does you no good anyway.

I don't think we'll know those details until the game is out, but my guess is it's a bar that will keep moving. It generally goes up after each HM raid, DLC, next HM raid, etc.

Bounties that give you legendary gear, strike chests, post game crucible rewards, and faction packages all drop up to 400
-
Crucible bounties!

2 RepliesIt really doesn't matter to me because I will be raiding but max light only matters for raiding and trials. Just saying.
