Season 3 of Rick and Morty is terrible
Why has the first two seasons of Rick and Morty been good (1 being the best) and then season 3 comes along and is quite rubbish? They seem to have tried to cram in as much jokes and forced gimmicks as they could into every episode. When did this show become a 4-jokes-a-minute cartoon?
Where did the moments of reflection and humorous honest life discussions stop being integral to this show?
References to other movies and shows are great but to do them every chance you can only shows that the writers can't continue the originality and heart that enabled Rick and Morty to get such a following. Oh, another reference? Cool I guess...
Action scenes were a staple of the show, but to rely on them solely is a mistake that hurts it's value.
I admit the show is good but this season has been the weakest so far. I don't blame the hype because I've stayed away from any discussion because I know how toxic the fan base can be.
It's the writing, the original writers should have stayed on and coached whoever is trying to pass weak stuff not worthy of this show

It's not that season 3 isn't dark so far. It's just exploring something other than existentialism. So far, it seems to be really focused on comedy based off of the recent divorce. There's also still only 3 episodes so far. First few episodes of season 1 weren't too dark humor focused either, except a few nihilistic jokes and no-god jokes. I do like how it's giving a more solid picture of who Rick is. Before, a common question was why Rick does anything that he does if everything is pointless. Now, we know that he does this because he is in control of his life, at least according to the conversation between Rick and the therapist.

3 RepliesUh. . .nothing has changed. . .do you remember any of the two interdimensional t.v. episodes? There was a joke every 10 seconds. . .there are supposed to be a lot of jokes. And what do you mean they lack existential questions? The show has gotten much more personal and relatable as the family works through their personal problems like divorce, separation, loneliness etc. etc. The action in Pickle Rick was awsome. . .he killed an army of rats and then killed a bunch of evil guys with a laser camera. I don't even know what you are talking about.

I hate these new shows, I from late 80"s to mid 90's tv watcher when cartoons could be stupid as f*** but was funny. Now today sitcoms and cartoons keep going on and on about the same fart jokes and nose picking, that they forget why it was funny in they first place!!! And same sh!t keeps getting so repetitive and not so funny anymore just becomes dumb just like the kids watching it today
