I don't know what you are complaining about.
You didn't almost get fired, your department followed SOPs for such claims. It didn't indicate that you were about to be fired.
Seems exactly how such a claim should be followed up.
1) event occurs
2) alleged police brutality
3) admin leave (paid) [if any leave at all]
4) investigation to determine what occurred and if claims are valid
5) result of investigation
6) lawsuit dismissed
7) Back to work
