Which Dawnblade attunement will you be using, and why? (Hint-We're all gonna be the same)

Sky

144

Flame

219

EDIT: Despite the vote results thus far, I find it funny that only one person has made a valid argument for the current state of the sky attunement (he only uses hand cannons, which for some reason aren't completely useless with the accuracy penalty). So, I think people are just voting without reading below first. PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE VOTING For PvE, Attunement of Flame will likely be the only way to go. Attunement of Sky is supposed to be better suited for PvP, but even the perks and super are broken. My reason for this post is because I believe that, once people think it out and/or try both, 90%+ of warlocks will be on the same attunement due to this broken-ass, all-or-none, attunement system. So much for individualization, eh Bungie? Below are my thoughts. ATTUNEMENT OF SKY: Swift strike-Strike an enemy with this Melee Ability to burn your target and temporarily increase your movement and reload speed *Could be very useful* Icarus dash-Press O, O/B, B while midair to dodge. *VERY fun to use. As a Warlock, we are the only class that had never gotten this ability in D1* Winged sun-Engage your enemies mid-flight. Fire weapons and throw grenades while gliding. *Easily the most appealing aspect of this attunement (for PvP), and the entire point of this skill tree considering the name, but it's completely broken. Airborne accuracy needs a serious bump, or this is completely worthless. Currently, airborne engagement puts you at a serious disadvantage b/c most of your bullets don't register* Heat rises-Airborne kills recharge your Grenade and Melee energy. Casting Daybreak instantly refills all your ability energy. *Meh... Especially considering the above issue* ATTUNEMENT OF FLAME: Igniting touch-Strike an enemy with this melee ability to burn them and cause them to explode when killed. *Could be very useful in PvE, but not in PvP* Fated for the flame-Daybreak projectiles seek targets as they travel and, upon impact, launch a streak of deadly flames. *Will make the super MUCH easier to use. In the beta, I found the Sky's super was very difficult to get kills with due to no tracking and minimal splash damage* Everlasting fire-Killing an enemy with Daybreak extends its duration. *Again, huge perk, depending on the time buff, in both PvP and PvE* Phoenix dive-Hold O/B while midair to quickly descend and restore your health. While Daybreak is active, Descend causes explosive damage. *Could be extremely useful, but without Winged Sun from the other attunement tree, I'm not sure how often it will be used* When it comes down to it, I had a blast using the Icarus dash and Winged Sun perks in the beta, but, unfortunately, I just don't see that attunement being a viable option unless they fix the airborne accuracy and super.

Hello, I play on PC if that makes any difference... Been using the attunement of sky. By far the most fun "spec" of all the warlock trees IMO. I'm having an absolute blast. I recently got Sunbracers (x2 duration on solar grenade (the continuous aoe one) and melee ability recharges like 30% of a grenade) Those Sunbracers paired with the talent that makes kills while airborn reset your grenade is simply OP. Boss? Grenade, ult, (grenade reset from ult) 2nd grenade... use all the ult charges, land with a melee, do a big phatty jump, whip out your rocket launcher to kill a pack of adds, toss more nades. Getting kills with grenades while airborn, will also lower grenade cooldown. Explosive power weapons + glide = grenades 4 days Having 3x 10second burn grenades on bosses shreds them. I also use sweet business or hardlight for my air killing, as the accuracy penalty matters naught when you shoot 10000 bullets a second. Long range engagements are a no-no unless feet are on the ground. To any one that wants to play the sky build, I highly recommend not jumping sideways while getting used to the change in playstyle. Jumping/gliding backwards and forwards evades most attacks (+ the dash if need be) while keeping your shots in a straight line. Don't take slow shooting, heavy hitting hand cannons/rifles. Pillars are your friends, glide-dash to them. I have had mixed views on pvp with the sky build.... It is the most fun (when vsing bads) as they never expect you to be above them when they come around a corner... However, if the enemy team is good, and you are in the air, you are going to die. Every. Time. I think I just need more discipline in pvp with flying to make better use of it... In the mean time I'll stick to stormcaller and use my vigilance wing. The shooting while flying may seem rather niche, but when paired with a nice auto rifle/burst rifle/sidearm, a bunch of airborn shooting practice and dedication to playing "the floor is lava" you can become quite the killing machine, so long as you can use the grenades well and use the ult for big single target damage rather than aoe. The super super spec is good, especially if you can kill enough to keep it going. But you're pretty well useless for neutral game, where you spend most of your time. I prefer to be super during my "down time" and add some more super during my super. p.s - handcannons are OK for the sky build... But, by the time the recoil resets you get like 3 decent shots before hitting the ground, comparitive to an entire auto rifle clip in the general direction (since airborne accuracy is lowered anyway) of their face and any other face behind it.

Phoenix dive is the only thing I care about in all those abilities. Health restores. Don't need to have super up for that to work. That's really useful.
As a Warlock, we are the only class that had never gotten this ability in D1*
Hunter never had a mid-air dodge either.
Winged sun-Engage your enemies mid-flight. Airborne accuracy needs a serious bump, or this is completely worthless. Currently, airborne engagement puts you at a serious disadvantage b/c most of your bullets don't register*
I wouldn't say completely broken. I used it all the time in PvE and I really enjoyed it. In PvP I tend to stay more on the ground. The accuracy could be better, but I used a hand cannon most of the time, and with that the mid-air accuracy was okay from my experience. With other weapons it didn't work that good for me, but I still wouldn't say completely broken.
Heat rises-Airborne kills recharge your Grenade and Melee energy. Casting Daybreak instantly refills all your ability energy. *Meh... Especially considering the above issue*
Since I killed a lot of enemies from mid-air, I found this very useful. Definitely helped getting my grenade back quicker. _______________________ I think I will prefer Attunement of Sky. My playstyle isn't centered around the super. I'm more the neutral game player. Shooting during glide and mid-air dodge are just too good IMO to give them up. Though I'm sure I'm going to enjoy the Pheonix Dive.

              • Winded Sun is bomb diggity, y'all. All it really needs is a reduction to the in-air accuracy penalty. If there is even at least weapons made for that purpose it would be acceptable.

                • I'm surprised at the poll results. Half of the attunement of flame is focused on the super, & it doesn't occur often enough nor last long enough to make it an obvious choice.

                    • I like the new angel of light but as you said the bullets do not register while gliding, it really needs to be fixed. I enjoyed it but it is worthless in the state it was in beta.

                      • Oh, and I forgot to mention it, but our grenades are easily the worst in the game. I mean, I am over the moon happy they are getting rid of the OHK stickies, but at least replace it with something useful.
