You guys gotta think logically, right? Why spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for voice-acting and thousands of hours for video/sound editing for such a small addition? I mean, it's not like we paid any money for the game for them to put in that kind of effort!
It also adds to the story, obviously! I mean, come on, since when did voice-acting ever add anything to story telling? Just look at the pretty pictures and stop whining about your entitlement.
Bungie clearly wants this to be the deepest, most content driven, customizable game they've ever created. That's why they've removed so much stuff, so you can see how much they've put in! All the haters don't understand that simple concept.
D2 is definitely going to be the greatest thing since the resurrection, anyone who says otherwise is just a grumpy entitled guardian.

6 RepliesYour post is pathetic on so many levels but everyone is entitled to their own opinion so to each their own but... ...with that said I have something for you to ponder on. What does destiny have that will make it memorable in "X" amount of years besides negative reviews? Every iconic game has something that it does that imprints themselves into a gamers memory whether its a sound, a jingle, a voice etc. The closest thing I could say destiny has for a trademark is its ghost and most people dislike the character itself. Master chiefs voice easily recognizable and dude only had a few lines. Kawabonga? TMNT The box and alarming jingle from metal gear solid Even crash bandicoot had facial expressions that showed some type of emotion without speaking Point is a voice might help distinguish the guardian character and maybe even give it a bit of depth story wise but for now were just empty characters. If your gonna go that route and make the protagonist silent you better make damn sure the characters it surrounds and involves with are well developed and complex. Just my two cents.

Luke Smith "satisfactorily exited" our guardian's voice at the end of Y1, duh!

9 RepliesHalo had voice acting and man was it awesome, the way destiny is I can't quite say I care what ever useless things they might have to say. Oh no, my ghost... Favorite halo quote: Come on you dumb apes, you want breakfast, you gone catch it. -sgt dude

I could careless if my guardian talk but doubt it was a money thing. The little dialogue we had in D1 anyone could have done. You dont need a big name voice actor. A bum off the street would have done it for a value meal.
-
That is the obvious answer. It is the cheap way out and they took it case closed and also nothing new.
-
1 ReplyI agree. When our ghost falls off the tower it seems out of place. I'm still not sure how they'll do it, with the ghost powerless and all.

I give this post a 8.5/10. A higher score than this franchise will ever receive.

I like your tasty sarcasm!

We are all mute, for these are just words. TAKE HEED! The silence is here! We are doomeded. :3
-
My only issue is this: I've played my share of "silent protagonist" games, and they work either because the game is strictly first-person, or if it's first-person, the character's face is visible so even if they're mute, they can react/emote. Since we get a third-person view of our guardians with their helmets on in the D2 cutscenes, it doesn't work for me.

Lol, I was about to get triggered reading the first paragraph, then it hit me...

While my preference would be to have a voiced character, I don't mind not having one in Destiny because the story isn't that engrossing or engaging enough to make me gaf about my avatars, they feel expendable, empty, puppets to the Ghost really. He's the voice, maybe he's really the protagonist, he mostly dictates our actions, just doesn't do the legwork.

3 RepliesNo salt from me, everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, but i just want to leave this here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/229610683?sort=0&page=0 In my mind, the real question is, does it really add anything to this game? To me, not really, considering how little our guardians actually said in vanilla, and the fact that our ghost is sort of the expositional force that drives the story(using that term lightly). To me personally, its not a big deal. However, i do understand the frustration. More dialogue than we had in the first game most likely would add something to the game. However, it would also take away from people who like their guardian to not have a voice, or those people who want to feel like their guardian is actually them. It is to me one of those things where it is impossible to please everyone. Unfortunately, Bungie has to make a decision with that. I'm not defending Bungies decision, or the fact that the characters won't be speaking in D2. Honestly, i just don't care enough. Its not a driving point to this game to me because it never really was in the first place. If they implement it, great! theres a bit more to the game. If not, well, i'll still be shooting aliens in the face. I just think it's important to see both sides of the argument, and see what we had before compared to now.
