Shut up with halo nonsense, that has absolutely nothing to do with this game

It was made by the same company and has the same fps, you control a character feel - and as such is very comparable
-
Comparable in the fact that it's made by the same company and their both fps... That's it, neither game effects each other.
-
No one said they did, it's still comparable because on one hand you have a mute who never talks and is a huge part of why people are more attached to thier weapons then thier character. On the other you have master chief who's lines and dialogue helped deliver the story and is what made him a icon in gaming forever. Both coming from the same studio shows extreme laziness - not incompetence
-
That's the point though they're different games entirely. The guardian and master chief are different types of characters. One is a story character you play as and the other is the player character filled in by you. It works for Destiny, as we've seen before. It's not showing laziness at all

With no talking on our part we are literally just a floating gun.
It works for Destiny, as we've seen before.
Not it didn't, a horrible story has been one of the worst critiques of D1 and tbh probably D2.
It's not showing laziness at all
Yes it absolutely is, bungie have shown they could make an excellent storytelling game, however pure laziness or just being unwilling to hire a voice actor or actually put some thought into dialogue (looking at you Gary)
-
Yea don't see it like that at all, and don't judge the story of D2 before anyone has played it. Who's gary?
-
Yea don't see it like that at all, and don't judge the story of D2 before anyone has played it.
Won't matter, if 50 cutscenes of D2 has no main character dialogue they've already failed as developers. D1 story wise was a massive failure and with the return of a silent protagonist history will more then likely repeat itself.
Who's gary?
The ridiculous nickname bungie invented which only lessens the immersion and cheapens the experience.
-
Sorry but some people really like silent protagonist. Also the dudes name is Ghaul
-
Sorry but some people really like silent protagonist.
Some, however most do not. This is proved by how hated D1 story was.
Also the dudes name is Ghaul
Until bungie pit out that trash trailer where they turned what should have been an interesting character into a absolute joke.
-
Destiny practically had no story so your argument there makes no sense. Also where do you get off saying most people don't like silent protagonists? Lol you're complaining about trailers
-
Destiny practically had no story so your argument there makes no sense.
Except vanilla....and tdb...and how...and ttt....and roi...right, no story. Lol. Destiny had story - it simply was bad, a silent protagonist, a plot that didn't answer half the questions, etc. Having the silent protagonist return is already a huge step in the wrong direction.
Also where do you get off saying most people don't like silent protagonists?
Because of how unpopular it was in D1 for one. All good story games have a vocal (sometimes very vocal) protagonist. Especially rpg and fps ones. Titanfall 2, gears of war, halo, the last of us, hell any good story game will have the main character actually talk. Go make a poll asking if players prefer a main character that talks or doesn't talk and see the results. Barely anyone wants a mute.
Lol you're complaining about trailers
Lol you don't realize how it's already made him a joke instead of a threat.
-
Yeah the story was bad in destiny for many reasons, the mute character wasn't one of them.
-
Lol yes it was. You may personally not find that a contributing factor. Most players do.
-
The only problem destiny had with the voicing was that it started with a railing role, it should've been either mute entirely like they are doing now or talking like vanilla. The mute character had no impact on the quality of the story with the setting we have.
-
That's your very personal opinion - one that isn't shared by many. Most people felt the story with a mute was a large part of why the story was trash. Quite honestly the main characters of destiny is ghost and the Vanguard, as opposed to your guardian. Which makes the story lose a ton of immersion.
-
That's the one part that adds immersion though...
-
Edited by Haunter: 7/31/2017 11:27:14 PMBeing basically a floating gun in story is immersion?
-
Floating gun? Wit? Your guardian is one of many chosen from the ghosts to help fight the darkness. It actually acknowledges the multiplayer aspect of the game in the story well. Being as powerful as everyone else, yet being able to "become legend" isn't cool?
-
Not when the guardian you make "legend" (lol) is a blank, mindless nothing. We may as well be whatever current weapon you have equipped - they have more identity then the guardian.
-
I just don't see why you'd ever play this game if you thought like that.
-
Which is why I've barely played story I do it once, more then that in only for legendary marks. I doubt anyone plays destiny for its story
-
It's a good campaign though
-
Not at all, destiny campaign is known as one of the worst in gaming. "Don't even have time to explain" Things left unanswered, main character not contributing anything to the conversations. Serious question dude, are you just trolling me? Cus props if you are.
-
I was taking about the missions... Not the story
