Bottomless clip means no cooldown for plasma weapons?

Sorry if this is old but: With bottomless clip an option now, if it's turned on while you use plasma weapons, will they never overheat? Full charged plasma rifle emp shots, strung together one after another? or would it still have that cooldown time? would you need to vent a plasma repeater to keep it at full efficiency, or could you just fire away without discretion? I hope the latter. you?

 •
Posted by: Dont pass gass but plasma weapons dont have clips....
if you want to get technical about it, neither does any other weapon in reach, they all have MAGAZINES. but i believe so, seeing as when you use the devmode cheat "cheat_bottomless_clip" in halo PC, it does just that, however you still run out of energy, so that is a reason for infinite ammo to still exist.

 •
Posted by: Scarphace I've seen this over and over and it's so sad.... Everybody who's ever played any shooter game calls it a clip. It's really called a magazine, or mag for short. Look it up. A clip is a WWII-era ammunition feed mechanism. Magazine is a modern, generic term for an ammunition source and/or feed.
You, sir, are fighting a losing battle. Gun misconceptions and mislabeling are so widespread on FPS forums...I would let this kind of stuff go if you want to preserve your sanity. Wouldn't want you to go postal and unload a clip in some folks at a fast food restaurant next time they -blam!- up your order or something. [Edited on 07.20.2010 7:22 PM PDT]

 • Bottomless clip = shoot forever. Infinite ammo, all fire all the time. Infinite ammo = you have to reload. But you can reload infinite number of times. There's going to be both options? Sweet. Then apply that model to human or covenant weapons because essentially they all work the same.

 • It would seem ridiculous to have overheating.

 •
Posted by: dahuterschuter I would think so. Although in Halo 3 there was still the overheat thing on the PR and PP even with the Infinite ammo option. Not really the same thing though.
That's because the reload weapons still had reload......... :p

 • Based on what I've seen from Halo: PC console, bottomless clip keeps your weapon at max ammo and prevents any cooldowns.

 • Unless it specifically says bottomless clip, I'd be wary of it. Halo DOES have its nuances when it comes to cheats. For example, even in Halo 1 where you had to enter it into the cheat console, invincibility (Which went by the name of cheat_deathless_player, I think) could be bypassed if you gave them a good whack to the back. Since that returned for Halo 3 (If you made a Monitor invincible in Forge, they were still invulnerable to assassination, I'd assume and hope that when they say Bottomless Clip in Reach, they mean the good cheat. (Infinite Ammo and Bottomless clip exist alongside each other; Inf. Ammo is the inferior variant. It makes you reload and overheat, Bottomless Clip does not.)

 • In Halo: CE for the PC you could use Dev Mode for bottomless clip and that is what it does. So yes no overheating.
