Also, why can't all of these changes simply be done inside Destiny one? Why did we need a sequel to decide to only use two primaries and a heavy now??

They wanted to rework the weapon system I think is the main reason. But I do agree with you, that they could have made a true expansion if they wanted to. I think it may have just been easier for them to start from scratch so they didn't mess with the majority of destiny game play.

They wanted to re work the weapon system? Seriously.... That's the best defence you have? Mhmm so every patch nerfed or changed the weapon system every damn month... They added an artifact slot at expansion four. I've seen how other games can be updated and changed over time. Changing the mechanics to have two primaries and special and heavy weapons being moved to the same slot which the mechanics of holding "y" for a heavy and tapping it to switch between main/secondary weapons isn't that hard to patch out.

They said it themselves like it or not. I am not defending them, but just stating facts and giving a hypothesis on those facts. However, I have never defenced before. All my fences are still standing strong :)

The weapon system came later. They actually wanted to address the story

You may be right. They did rip the story apart, well at least for now.
