What do y'all prefer? Efficiency system, or K/D system
-
Why can't both be displayed as kills and assists just like D1, assists are as important as kills.

Edited by Fibby: 7/30/2017 2:18:13 PMI hope that we get a post game scoreboard with the efficiency stat just like in the beta, and nothing else, not even external websites with stats. If the game turns out to be a similar lag fest like D1 is where nearly every lobby has laggy players who don't take damage and they are getting kills they didn't deserve as a result, there is no point in tracking stats. More importantly, if people are not obsessed about their K/D, maybe they will not be so passive, and end up having more fun while playing.

1 ReplyI'd prefer a system where the kill is awarded to the person who did more than 50% of the damage, or failing that (e.g. 3 people did damage to them, none over 50%) the final blow (as per D1). Keeps the focus on who contributed most to the kill, stops kill snaking without ruining the metric completely as it has been in d2.

Well I love KD at the end of game results. But there is something about taking away the worry of seeing assist pop up during a game. It essentially is the same thing.... it's more rewarding to see how valuable you are to a team, than just worrying about yourself. Idk just my thoughts! Hey everyone! Check out my new video. Strafe works for beginners! Hope you enjoy! https://t.co/fydWD9WtgQ

I like KD personally. It tells me personally how I'm doing. My w/l will tell me how my teams have been doing. Either way, there will eventually be a number that is replacing required KD numbers. "Must have 5.0 or higher efficiency" This will be a thing.
-
2 RepliesQuite honestly, I think that having Efficiency is a little like giving out Participation trophies. More people can have K/d's over 1.0 with it implemented, so it helps Crucible cupcakes like me feel better about ourselves. Well, not really me, because I see right through it. But it will work with others. It also facilitates teamwork, since there's no longer any practical reason not to stick with your mates. After all, stealing kills is no longer a thing, since they're shared now.

5 RepliesEfficiency No more elitist "must of 1.5 KD or better" people.
-
4 RepliesAs a guardian who gets bucket loads of assists, it's nice that will be recognised so I'm happy. Actually looking forward to pvp this time around if it stays like the Beta (i.e. Less supers more shooting)

4 RepliesIn my perfect world, neither. The win is what matters, not your ego.

3 RepliesEdited by xSinicle: 7/29/2017 3:08:27 AMYoure doing well if youre getting over a 2.0 in this new system. Ive seen so many people get a 1 or less and wonder how is this even possible. If it were more like the scoring in battlefield then I could agree with it. In battlefield youd have to damage the enemy up to about 90% I believe and if someone cleaned up the kill, yoid still be granted the kill. For what I saw in the beta, of you sneezed on someone and someone else killed them, the game grants you a kill.
The fact that its skill based matchmaking apparently in the beta and seeing my teammates get that and a lot of the enemy is insulting to me. The game actually thought I was in their league! REEEEEE!
KD all the way. The gold standard for a reason. KAD can count towards winning the match but when the scorecard comes up? KD or go home.
-
2 RepliesW/L over anything and everything! Your k/d don't mean jack if you're losing lol. How "efficient" you are also doesn't mean jack if you're losing. Jus super saiyan... W/L means more imho.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Warlock TheGrey: 7/29/2017 7:37:30 AMI am almost sure third party sites/apps will show both... there is data of who actually killed the opponent so its possible to show k/d as stat in my opinion. Well depends on if bungie will share full data or not with third parties. I want to see both kd and efficiency for my own personal review. I like tracking my own stats and rarely check others

Efficiency is essentially KA/D. Either one is fine.
-
1 ReplyK/D all the way. That shows me how good you are at surviving as an individual. It reflects how well you know to pick and choose your engagements and when to fall back when needed. Efficiency is a participation trophy. Not only is it basically a ka/d statistic but I'm sure it factors in objective somehow. It has to. In D2, I've won and lost matches where everyone on both sides had positive efficiency 2+. Can you explain to me how one team can be "efficient" but still lose? I don't think losing is efficient.
-
I prefer efficiency because it gives you the overall big picture of how well you did and how you contributed to the team. My biggest gripe about K/D and D1 comes down to two situations which happen often. 1. You have done 95% of the damage on someone and just as you think you are about to get the kill you have been out flanked from the side by someone else on the other team and you get taken out. The guy you were shooting survives but seconds later that last 5% of damage is done by a teammate and you get an assist. 2. You and a teammate are both shooting someone at the same time his bullet is the one that deals the kill and he gets the credit for the kill and you get an assist. With efficiency these two situations are non issues. You would get credit for the kill for both which is the way it should be. I've played really good games before and had more assist's than kill's and the end result is my KD being lower because of it when overall I did not play that bad but stat's wise it show's I had a meh game. We do not know how this will factor in with other game modes as far as doing objectives being we only had 2 modes to play in the beta. Anyone can argue that you need kills to win and others will argue that you need to do the objectives. Is the guy running around only doing kills and not trying to capture control points more valuable than the guy who does not get as many kills but gets a lot of capture points in control allowing for more points for the whole team per kill? See how both are important if they do in fact factor in objectives with efficiency than it shows your total contribution to the team. I'm quite sure there will be places to track your actual KD as well but D2 seems to be moving away from the solo warrior and focused more on team play which explains the efficiency stat.

1 ReplyEfficiency gives you credit for something you didn't do. Basically it's a participation trophy. #TitanMasterRace
-
10 RepliesEverybody that voted efficiency has self esteem problems and it makes them feel warm and fuzzy. The days of being the last kid picked are over. Soft a$$ society of pu$$ies these days.
-
Couldn't care less. It's a video game!
-
Where's the "w" for win?
-
I play completely for fun so I don't care.
-
Neither is important in the first place
-
I really don't care. I play Destiny to shoot $#!t, not maintain k/d.
-
5 RepliesKD every time. With 1 quick glance you can see if you were a help or a hindrance to your team. The trouble with efficiency it's basically just a KA/D ratio. Which can hide the fact that you died more times then you got kills. I know a lot of people didn't like KD and thought people farmed it by sitting at the back of the map and sniping. But in a game mode like clash if they got a positive KD they contributed to the team. Yes the runner gunner might get more kills than them but if their KD was negative in the end their contribution to their team was actually a hindrance. Efficiency works in the new score system but that's a whole different kettle of fish. Personally if I fail to get the kill and the opponent runs off to die to another team mate I don't think I deserve the same amount of points.
-
I'm not worried about any of it. I play how I play and enjoy myself. I play differently all the time based on the map, opponents, characters, and sometimes even my mood (getting crazy with two shotguns & saying' fu(k it).
-
I mean I always get a ton of assists but I don't really care
