Making games harder is not the way to go. Adding an optional mode that increases difficulty is one thing, but making the game difficult overall will alienate the majority of gamers who do no live, eat, and breathe all things Destiny.
And before the Hardcore Heroes of Destiny pipe in with their "Who care about casuals!?!?!!" routine, realize that the casuals outnumber you. That means more money lost if they choose not to purchase. Bungie knows you will keep buying.

Are you saying you thought the game was harder than D1? I thought it felt the same to me. What was harder about it?

People must be baby's if they think D2 is even hard to begin with, we haven't even seen nightfalls or raids yet.
