This post deals with clan migration and the specific details between a Destiny 2 (D2) clan and a Destiny 1 (D1) clan and what happens to the D1 clan portion when upgrading a group to a D2 clan.
I'm sure this has been answered but I can't seem to wrap my brain around how the answer is being phrased. It does not seem clearly defined to me. I am searching for knowledgeable clarification.
I am a D1 clan founder/leader. Most of our clan will be transferring to D2 so my clan migration choice is obvious. I will choose to transfer to "Upgrade Your Group To A Clan." There are zero members-only of my clan. They are ALL full clan members, and we will not be growing past 50-ish clan members for some time. But, the below explains my confusion…
Question 1 -
What will happen to my D1 portion of my clan when I “upgrade” to a D2 clan?
When D2 releases on Sept. 6th, I will have clan members that will all start playing D2. However, I will have a substantial portion of my clan that will still be gaming solely on D1 (i.e. They can't afford D2 yet, started D1 in Year 3, don’t have time to invest in D2 yet). I understand my clan will be a "Destiny 2" clan on August 23rd once the clan migration choice is finalized. What about the other portion of my clan that will still be actively playing only D1?
Question 2 -
Will the D1 portion of my clan essentially not "be in the clan” anymore on August 23rd? As in, will the D1 portion of my clan show up in my D2 clan and show up fine if they play D2 with no problems? But essentially be "clan-less" if/while they continue to play in D1 before they make the switch to D2?
Question 3 -
If all my clan members are “upgraded from a group member to a clan member,” they should be perfectly good to go when playing D2. However, what about the clag tag, and in game (D1) clan roster? Will those still actively show within D1?
The reason for this post is because I want my clan to support all my clan members. Those members that will be playing D2 and also D1 only players. I don’t want my D1 players to all of sudden loose their in game clan roster, and in game clan tag. I want to make sure the D1 portion of the clan is taken care of and not abandoned. If I need to essentially create a “2nd clan” for the D1 only clan members for them to still have the clan roster and clan tag, then I’ll be happy to do so but as of this moment I don’t know if this will need to be done.
I simply want a Destiny spanning clan. One that is for both D1 and D2 players and no matter what version of Destiny they are playing, they have access to the clan roster and show their clan tag with pride. Yes, I know there will be more tools, and features in D2 that D1 won't have. Thanks to all ahead of time who weigh in on this but please let me know the hardcore facts. This specific area of this matter seems murky to me and I hope to make the answers clear to myself, and everyone else!

4 RepliesHi, Players who are still on Destiny 1 will remain clan members with the features they have now. The in game clan features implemented with Destiny 2 will not be accessible to them however. Does that answer your questions? Feel free to ask any more.
