I've been experiencing the exact same problem as well. I was fortunate enough to still have my original PS4, so I've been able to play on that, but I am definitely looking forward to playing in the most optimal way on the Pro and this is super disappointing. Based off of the extensive research I've done on this issue, I have a strong incling that it may be a hardware issue that effects a few different games. I first experienced the issue with Rise of the Tomb Raider and noticed on blogs/forums that others have too. The only people who I've seen have that problem fixed are those who used their limited warranty for console replacements. Perhaps, in the first batch or two of PS4 Pros, there are hardware issues. I haven't seen many people describing if their systems were purchased recently or not, which would help narrow down this issue. Mine is most definitely an original console. In regards to both Bungie AND Sony, some kind of addressment needs to be made on this issue because it is clearly effecting many people at this point. I hope this has shed some light on the issue.

  • If it was hardware problem, first ... Sony would have done Recall. Second ... I even had this error CE-34878-0 in various other games on normal ps4, when friends of mine did not have. Over time and with updates the problem has been fixed! There are a lot of people talking about hardware errors, especially in older PROs. But mine is not even a month old. And if it were that would be in all games not just in one or the other!

  • Well this is good to know and it helps with narrowing down the problem since you have a newer Pro. The ROTTR crash was much worse than this one though. It would completely crash the system with no error code and needed a hard reset every time. It was the only time I experienced that problem and once this beta started freezing, naturally, my mind went right back to that problem. Trust me, I definitely hope this is strictly a software problem. Nobody wants to have to replace what should be a new and perfectly working system.

  • Reading your text, I thought here. It may even be hardware error, but caused by software! That makes a lot of sense!

  • That could indeed be possible! I don't know what kind of 4k-settings are embedded in the D2 Beta but the thing that would crash ROTTR every time was putting it on the 4k resolution setting. That was extremely frustrating since they NEVER put out a software update to fix it and the problem started back in November of last year.
