So, like many in the community, I've found the recent Beta experience to be wildly underwhelming. I am sure that the following topics have been beat to death, but I just cannot get past how cumbersome and under-powered the PVE experience is. So, let's recap:
- Super cool down is way to long
- Specifically, as a primary Titan player, I found the new method to 'pop your bubble' way too problematic. You literally have to stop and hold the damn buttons which has led to my death many times during the Beta gameplay.
- Grenade cool down is way too long and they're severely under powered
- The Skill Tree is a joke
- Way to go taking away flexibility in the way you want to build your loadout
- Without the Intellect, Discipline and Strength tiers allowing you to tailor your cool downs to match your specific play style you've made the game feel tedious and boring
- Scout rifles tickle
- Power Ammo drops are far too infrequent
- RIP HMG's
- Movement is cumbersome and feels as though you're dragging your feet
These were my main points as to why I believe D2, frankly, sucks. Yes, PVP isn't nearly as frustrating as you no longer get one-shot by a Hand Cannon outside a range that even a Scout Rifle could manage, but this obsession with balancing PVP and PVE together has led to PVE suffering.
The solution is simple...balance them separately. It's not like you don't already; have you ever tried to kill the Elite Cabal guarding the ship entrance on the way to the Shield Brother's Strike? Obviously your level is tweaked for the public space indicating that it can be done but you have just chosen not to.
So, after being a Destiny 1 Beta player, purchasing every DLC for three people (my whole family plays) and investing 6000 hours into the game I think I'll just try D2 through Gamefly eventually.
Congratulations on luring new players with the PVP changes; too bad it comes at the expense of us Old Guard. Funny thing is, once they see how Destiny PVP plays, they'll go back to Overwatch or CSGO and you'll be out both player bases.
Good luck.
