Destiny 2 Hunter, useless class ability

I reckon the hunters been ripped off when it comes to supers and class ability. The hunter pretty much has no change and seems like a hunter brings nothing to the table in pve. Gunslinger pretty much the same and arcstrider is gone from a blade to a staff and lost the ability to turn invisible. The class ability with the shade step type thing I feel is useless compared to the titans portable barrier and the warlocks rifts also a warlock has a similar ability where they can evade in midai. So really the warlocks pretty much has the hunter class ability also , I and others I have spoken to about t his believe another feature should come with the hunters class ability. Suggestions being, invisible for a short time after or even trigger health regeneration. Automatic reload or regain grenade energy doesn't seem to compare to a warlocks buffs and healing pool or a titans protection barricade.

  • Hunter does seem weaker and has been nerfed in many aspects but still IS viable. Nightstalker does however seem to be the go to class now, considering it's invisibility + the Graviton Forfeit now create a pretty decent combo. Gunslinger is still around the same thing, just be a good shot and get them precision hits and kills. Acstrider is what I find to be the most useless subclass for hunters, it doesn't even compare with Bladedancer. Now you plan even more carefully when to use your super since you wont be able to catch up to most people as well if they just run. Grenades seem a bit underwhelming, mainly the Skip. Ah, and the biggest flaw, the dodge! I find the dodge good and bad, I personally think if when you dodge you actually DON'T take damage like the name implies.

  • Well... speaking about other classes supposedly NOT nerfed... Titan (usually, my class of choice) 1) Shoulder charge now does not kill, it deals little damage, enough to drop down the enemy shield and get the Titan killed in the process; 2) Lightning Grenade has been massively nerfed with an activation time as the Tripping Mine, resulting in everybody avoiding it, instantly; 3) Pulse grenade was the only thing Titans had that was perceived "overpowered", which was then nerfed; 4) One of the Striker tree now does not have any melee special move, just because of the shoulder charge. I repeat: NO melee special move. Because of the Shoulder Charge. My. God. 5) Ward of Dawn has lost: Weapons of Light; Blessing of Light. Warlock 1) Blink is removed from Warlock jump selection (is it there, during a special setting of the super from the Storm Caller... but still...); 2) It gets a huge amount of mobility and Transversive Steps now to have that Warlock to move his feet at a speed that now matches a drunken turtle, at least. 3) Storm Caller super is super ineffective, especially during PvE; 4) Dawn Blade is a joke. 5) Sunsinger class has been removed. Radiance perk removed with it. If this is not the worse nerf ever in Destiny, please, tell me. I can definitely say that the only important nerf for the Hunter class is the sidestep as a timed ability and not anymore a "free" one. Maybe the two trees of the Night Stalker were messed up, but so do are the ones from Titan and Warlock. In a pratcical way, we can rightly say that ALL of these are not actually "nerf" situations... the game started with a clean slate, so they rebuilt all the classes from scratch. This is the new set up, so we have to deal with it, somehow, because it will not change until Destiny 3.

  • The hunter's weren't made weaker from destiny 1, the warlocks and titans were made stronger, more useful. The hunter's are still the highest dps class out of all three.

I don't know what game any of you people are playing but you're clearly not paying attention to anything in the game. In destiny 2 the Hunter's golden gun is the highest dps you can get in pve with the right guns that EVERYONE can get. Also, in pvp hunters are by far the most commonly used and are STUPID overpowered. The built in speed advantage they have over the warlock and titan is monstrous, and the included mobility is god tier. If anything the hunters need a nerf. If you think that the hunter is underpowered then you're just silly. The idea behind the titan, warlock, and hunter in PVE is Tank, Balance, dps in that order. Titan has armour that is geared toward being able to take damage along with their ability to block damage, the warlock has armour and abilities geared towards being able to provide group support and the hunter is seriously damage oriented. In pve they are properly setup you just need to learn how to play. However, in pvp the Hunter has a MASSIVE advantage against titans and warlocks. Their movement speed and controllability is unmatched, and their super ability is by far and large the best with 3 guaranteed kills at any distance. If you miss those, well then you have bad aim because the hitboxes in this game are stupid easy. I love the hunter, but it needs a nerf if anything. When there is an overwhelming population of hunter's to warlocks and titans combined theres an issue, because that represents a portion of the game not being utilized and therefore an imbalance.

    • I totally agree I like a lot of people here main the hunter hell he was the first into D1 and D2 and the arc strider is fun and all specially using the Raiden Flux exotic chest to make it last longer after every kill but in crucible its good in groups but if u 1v1 a dude he turns tail and runs. Blade Dancer was so much faster in D1 when your trying to close the gap between your opponent but if someone hears arc strider there like "Nope i'm leaving Bye." and i'm running a 9 mobility its like how do u out run a supered hunter. #BUNGIEFIXYOURSHIT

      • Hunter invisibility is gone for the same reason warlocks self revive is, its easier to remove those than it is to find ways to keep people from cheesing with them Honestly for me, RIP Hunter, my former favorite class

Bungie has to fix this. Who thought this was a good idea? Really a bloody dodge that's pathetic compared to what Titan and Warlocks get.

Agree Hunters have been nerfed to nothing. The dodge is useless, I miss the arcstrider for pve, was so looking forward to the invisibility again in pvp, and Warlocks get the teleport jump thing as if they don't have enough already. Why such a drastic change? Back to the dodge... Really? Does anyone use that ever? It's pretty pathetic. IMO everything was perfect. The class cannot stack up anymore and is so so so vanilla. My excitement for the and the game has dwindled to a bit of depression. For those that want the old Hunter, it appears Warlock is now a Warlock and Hunter combo, so you should just use that.

      • Sorry for the late response but I'm so glad I found this forum lol it seemed like ixwas the only one noticing that the Hunter got the short end of the stick yet again. Im a Hunter main and I feel that a suppression grenade with the night stalker and smoke is key as well as a increase in our supers or decrease the super long pose we do when activating it lol. Your thoughts?

      • (Sorry for copy paste spamming this kinda) I was thinking making it drop a trap where you dodge from. The trap would suppress and make an enemy trapped in it stand still for 2 seconds and do like 20 damage(less than a high impact scout rifle body shot damage(it does 37)). And it would have a similar circle around it on the ground to the healing/ empowering rift on the warlocks that when a teammate passes through the area, they get increased Handling, Stability, and movement speed for 10-15 seconds. The trap would be great to prevent enemies in PvP from chasing after you, and in PvE you could dodge around a tough enemy to prevent it from using abilities and moving around while your team could focus it and kill it faster. This would help nicely in both PvP and PvE. Imagine playing hunter and dodging next to a power ammo pick up a little bit before it spawns... and an enemy tries to pick it up, but gets trapped. It wouldn't be OP. To counter it, shoot or use an ability on the trap to destroy it, you could still shoot while you're trapped and it's only for 2 seconds. But the trap would have to be invincible after activation so it is actually useful.

      • Very much agreed, they pretty much get a selfish ability...while titan and warlock have buffs and shields, even better when you mesh those 2 together

      • I was never a big fan of hunter in D1-just preferring space magic n Titan skating-but of course tried it out in the Beta, n my goodness, hunters really have been crapped on! Weak-slow (Titan still moves the fastest) n that silly little hop which is hilarious n tragic as it's "special" move?! Locks n Titans move can benefit the whole team-healing/empowered n big arse barricade. Hunters have a lil hop, which barely benefits the hunter, let alone the rest of the team. N the fact they've taken invisibility away-now makes hunters pretty damn useless in all aspects, unless you want to be entertained by pretty pole dancing of course?

So I played as both Titan and Hunter and I'm in love with the Hunter. Its the most strategic out of the 3 classes and all your attacks and even your special(arcstrider) require some thought before you attack.

          • The way I see it: Titans can take more of a hit so they get closer to the action their super is also close range. Warlocks can do mid range or close range and their supers reflect that they should be mid range or over head. Hunters can do close-mid-long range but can't take much of a hit. So if you're playing the long range hunter and you had an ability that supports the fire team does that mean you need to run and gun all the way to your fire team each time you wanted to support them? In this space the more "selfish" reload is a better ability. Additionally if you're supporting your fire team by sniping then reloading quickly is helping. Perhaps if you find yourself fist fighting with the enemy while on your hunter then maybe a hunter is not what matches your play style.

            • I never really liked Hunters in the first game all that much but in this game they look and sound awesome. The problem with them is highlighted by the fact that literally in terms of uselfullness, the Exotic Hand Cannon that they were given in the beta (whose name escapes me) felt more powerful and fun to use than Golden Gun. I actually had moments where I launched Golden Gun, and expected to chain together huge multikills with it using the explosive kill effects and, well, was disappointed. If a "regular" weapon is more satisfying to use than the super ability, there's a problem.

              • The warlocks dodge ability also recharges way faster than the hunters dodge and they still have the rift on top of that. I really don't understand why they gave the air dodge to warlocks instead of hunters. I also don't get why they removed invisibility.

                • Im strongly considering maining a voidwalker. Between healing rifts, overcharging grenades, blink, and a more reliable feeling melee they just feel better. I've always been a hunter main and I'll miss the armor and capes but I actually want to join a raid and at this rate no one is going to want a hunter because they do very little for the team. Hopefully nightstalker gets confirmed but I'm not holding my breath

                • Make an aoe effect that can be activated by throwing a grenade charge. The aoe either reduces a targets defense or their ability to do damage.
