Guys I'm having this issue as well. I have been able to get passed the mission however. First day of beta release I turned on my PS4, from rest mode, and crashed at Zavala 3 times in a row until I just restarted my console. After I restarted it I was able to clear the entire mission just fine. Now today I turn on my PS4 pro, from rest mode, and crash at Zavala on my newly made Titan on my first attempt. So I restart my PS4 pro again and I'm able to clear the mission just fine after the restart. I have since made 2 more Warlocks and a 2nd Titan by constantly deleting characters just to test the issue and have been able to clear the mission each time crash free. Another thing to note is that after the very first crash I did also go into my display settings and turned my display to Automatic, down from 2160RGB and then restarted and was able to clear the mission perfectly. After the first successful clear, I turned my display settings BACK to 2160RGB and have had 0 issues to far on 4 successful characters. I think the main issue, at least in my case, may stim from a prolonged period of rest mode. Both instances of playing Destiny 2 beta I'm which I've experienced crashes have been while playing on a PS4 pro that has been booted from a rest mode period of more than 6 hours (overnight). Now while I'm fully aware of the fact that some people will say that simply restarting their console or changing to Automatic display didn't help, one or the other has helped me clear the Homecoming mission 6 total times now without any crashes. Hopefully this may help someone. I was getting very upset and figured I would test some things. I've also seen a post in this thread where someone said it could just be a PS4 Pro firmware issue due to Diablo 3 crashing as well since the Necromancer update. I play Diablo 3 and have experienced these crashes so this guy could be into something. Ps: I'm currently downloading the Rise of Tomb raider Demo to see if I fall victim to the notorious crashes that that game seems to have on PS4 Pro as well. I will post back shortly. UPDATE: Crashed on Tomb Raider demo before making it to the top of the mountain. Display settings set to 2160RGB. Checkered glitch display box on screen. In one of my Destiny 2 crashes and one of my Diablo 3 crashes I also experienced this glitchy checkered box. I'm going to set my display to Automatic and test it again. UPDATE 2: 3 Crashes on Rise of the Tomb Raider now. Swapping off of 4K to see if I can finish the demo. After much research it looks like most of the people here who are experiencing the PS4 Pro crashes ON Destiny 2, Diablo 3, or Rise of the Tomb Raider have indeed gotten faulty hardware in their Pro system. Sony is apparently aware of these issues and from what I've read online will issue you a box to send your system back in to them in order to have it replaced. UPDATE 4: Rise of the Tomb Raider has now crashed 5 times at the same spot. 2 of these times were with the settings set to 1080p only. At this point I have backed up my saves and I'm Initializing my console back to factory settings. I will then do a batch of testing again before I call Sony, but at this point it's looking like faulty hardware. The checkered box that we've been seeing after most of these crashes is a blatant indicator of a failing GPU chip. UPDATE 5: Reinitialized my PS4 pro. Two attempts in a row have succeeded in clearing the mission with no crashes. It is worth noting that I did NOT leave my PS4 Pro in rest mode over night. When I started playing Destiny 2 today it was after booting from a fully powered off period. I will now test Rise of the Tomb Raider several times again and I will post back to keep everyone updated. I also play Diablo 3 daily, since the start of the new season, and was also experiencing rare crashing of the same manner. So far so good on Diablo. Will post updates later. NEWEST UPDATE: Console is now freezing more often than it ever has on any of the aforementioned titles. I've called Sony and started the replacement process. They said it sounds like a failing GPU or HDD and told me they've seen several cases with Day 1 PS4 Pro systems having faulty hardware. For now I've got the old trusty PS4 out and it's working flawlessly. NEWEST UPDATE: In case anyone is still following this thread. I just received my PS4 Pro back from Sony. All is good! The very first time I played Tomb Raider I was able to 100% clear it. That was never even possible with my old unit that would freeze on Diablo 3, Destiny 2's beta, and Rise of Tomb Raider demo. Now I'm having 0 issues. This was definitely a console issue and not an issue with Destiny 2. Guys, get your consoles fixed ASAP. The warranty process takes two weeks to a month!

  • I have dont all of the same testing you have done including reinstalling a 4.72 firmware from a usb in safe mode with option 7. Playstation support also had me open several ports. nothing has fixed the freezing so far.

  • First of all, thanks for the extensive testing! I'll load the Tomb Raider Demo to see if it keeps crashing as bad as destiny does, if yes, I'll have my console replaced. Thanks to your troubleshooting I can at least be halfway sure that my PS4 Pro is the main cause of the issue, not neccessarily the D2 Beta - which could be posed that way that it invalidates your warranty, being a beta & all. Might be interesting to know: since the D2 crashes my console is getting really hot whereas before it's been pretty decent. (I owned a first gen ps4 before and man, that was An Annyoing Fan.) regards and many thanks!

  • Back to crashing again. After playing some PVP the over day once I got past the first mission, I’m back to getting crashes while visiting the farm today. Uninstalling the beta at this point, and will just have to monitor bungiehelp to see if they ever fix this - or I’m going to PSN for a refund.

  • Guys, get your Pros replaced. This issue is caused by hardware failure. Don't wait for Bungie they won't be able to repair your hardware.

This is not a hardware problem, but a firmware problem. You never get a new ps4.

  • How many games do your PS4 Pro? For me is only DS 2 which does not work.

  • Then try Rise of the Tomb Raider demo and see what happens.

  • Try the demo to see if it's a hardware problem or software problem. Most people who are crashing with ds2 are also crashing with rise. He's trying to show you that it's a hardware problem that Sony can't fix with an update.

  • But Bf1, FF 15, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost Recon, For Honor, Nioh, ME 4, RE 7, Destiny etc. work. And then it's due to the hardware. Will you kidding me.

  • I know. For me everything works great! Except destiny 2. Then I read to try rise to see if it crashes as well. And guess what it did. So now I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem and that probably no one is going to acknowledge it or fix it. Either return it if u can or get a warranty replacement, because probably there won't be a fix for destiny 2.

  • This is far too much of a coincidence that multiple games fail for a significant subset of the same console model. My money is on a bad batch of components in PS4 Pro that can hopefully be traced, otherwise Sony may need to offer a full recall if this starts to affect full games not just demo and beta titles. Time to start comparing serial numbers and/or manufacturing dates?

  • No if this is hardware related they absolutely need to do a recall. Look at how many people in this thread have this problem, Google search the problem and you'll see more people with the issue in other games. No one is reporting this issue, no one reported on this issue with other games. This isn't red ring level of people but still enough to warrant a full on recall and replacement. I mean wtf do all 100+ in this thread have to pray we have a valid warranty? Sony needs to comment and Bungie needs to force their hand.

  • Tend to agree with you, seems there are only two potential options, either Sony are at fault for a subset of console hardware being defective or less likely, multiple game developers are responsible for writing crappy code that causes the same generic fatal error but only on a subset of PS4 Pro hardware. It's just such a shame that we're no closer to a root cause even though repeating the error is so easy for affected users.

  • This worked for me!! Powered off my PS4 Pro, came back into destiny, created a new character, and haven’t run into any errors. First mission complete. This is strange, because I restarted after previous errors, but maybe I was going back to characters I had already made? Although I was sure I had tried making new ones after crashing. I didn’t make any changes to my video output settings. PS4 Pro SSD Many thanks, guardian!

Its not a hardware issue. Its a coding or packet loss issue. If it was a hardware issue it would happen with all ps4 pro supported games.

If it was coding it would likely affect way more users and transplanting an affected disk into a working console would still be affected, if it was packet loss it would easily and permanently be fixed by moving to a better network. Very easy for Bungie to test, just swap hardware around between affected and unaffected consoles to exclude each component. Of course this is assuming that they have managed to replicate this issue in house and isolated enough spare components suitable for testing.

  • I would also think it could be a packet loss issue on their side from the server. If it were a hardware issue other ps4 pro enhanced games would be affected. I currently play Battlefield 1 and Horizon Zero Dawn without issue. The fact that only certain games (like this beta) have issue makes me think that it is something to due with the software, not the hardware

  • The thing is is that all of the PS4 Pro supported games that I'm attempting to play as of now are indeed crashing. Diablo 3 has 4k support so it has some form of Pro enhancement, Destiny 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider. The only other thing I could do at this point would be to test Dishonored 2. When I first got my Pro, Final Fantasy 15 and Dishonored 2 were the only Pro enhanced games I had and I beat them both without a single crash. But here recently I've been crashing left and right on any game with Pro support. Unless my firmware got corrupted it seems like hardware failure to me at this point. I am currently initializing my system to make sure it isn't that.
