No kidding. I played D1 this morning after 2 days of D2 beta and felt like a -blam!-ing GOD!

You also have the best equipment, built reflexes, complete class layout, and total knowledge of every encounter, map, and level. If You weren't a god at D1, you're wrong. You're missing most of that I'm D2. Give it some time...

The whole point of D1 was that you were a magical power infused immortal brought back from the dead by a magical flying computer deployed from an all powerful orb in the sky to lay waste to the darkness that threatens the light you're infused with and the life of all that is good in the universe. You have powers to blow up and lay waste to the minions of darkness that take point over your guns. Your guns were there to enable you to keep going until your next wave of light empowered destruction was unleashed.

In the beginning you were a chump. You worked to higher status. Even Shepard starts each subsequent mass effect regaining power.
