Sniper - Heavy ammo in Destiny 2? - What is going wrong in your heads?

Hi, I am a german Destiny Player since Release and Destiny always was a Revolution in gaming history for me, because it is the first game which combines RPG elements in a shooter. The most important part is PVP for me, because you don't need regular new content to bind the Players for a Long time. Week for week all Players Play PVP with the same contents to challange each other. OSIRIS was one of the best developments for me. BUT why do you change one of the most important key elements like the "AMMO SYSTEM" in such a negative way? The last updates in Destiny 1 destroyed all sniper and shotgun Lovers due to the fact that Special ammo is nerfed. In Destiny 2 you completely destroy it ... The love to sepcial weapons like sniper, Fusion or shotgun is completely destroyed.... only Primary gun fights!!! WHY? Do you never have a look on the participating Accounts in osirs after These stupid changes? There was a dramatic DECREASE! Is this your Definition of a good shooter, where everbody Plays Icebreaker and NoLand Beyond, although there a hundreds of other cool weapons? And in Destiny 2 - you completey destroy all sniper, shotgun & Fusion Lovers. It will be not possible to train PVP with sniper because AMMO will be so rare. And if you got heavy ammo, do you think somebody tries to use sniper against enemies with rocket launcher? Please have a look to several other successful PVP "SHOOTER GAMES"... Counter Strike, COD or Battlefield... Do you see gun fights with only Primary weapons or are the Players free in there choice of weapon? Sometimes I ask myself what is going wrong in these decision processes.... Sorry, but i can't understand it .... I am not able to imagine 1 good Argument for These changes... It is unbelievable how you destroy the best PVP Shooter game in such a way...

After Forsaken shotguns are becomes fine, but sniper and fusion rifles steel sux, almost nobody play with it. This weapon less effective then even primary weapons like pulse rifles, pistols, SMG and others. Two whole classes of special weapon are still not usable.

  • Stop whining about using your primairy. Start using it. I do agree putting fusion, sniper and shotgun in the same slot as a rocketlauncher shows bungie hasnt learned shit from d1. The heavy ammo droprate is horrible in the crucible. There is a heap of players out there only shooting heavy the whole time cause its pretty much possible.

    • Nerfing the special ammo in destiny 1 was a bad move indeed and I agree that sniping could be very satisfying. But that was all that destiny was, either that or sliding around with a shotgun while the game had so much more to deliver. I personally enjoy the changes they made in Destiny 2 because it brings back a lot of skill outside of killing the enemy in the first encounter with one shot. And please don't compare Destiny to CS or Battlefield. I could say, in Bf4 people spawn with 7 RPG rockets, do you want everybody spawn with 7 rockets in Destiny?

        • Because the only time I use my sniper is on a boss. It also cuts down on Crucible nonsense that leads to weapons and classes being destroyed.

          • Counter strike is mainly a mainly a primary gun game. Sure you have pistol rounds to start each half and maybe 2-3 eco's with p250's, tec-9s, or five sevens. But out of a 30 round game, 23-25 rounds are primary play only. This was a poor example comparing Destiny to CS.

            • I don't get all the people complaining about this topic and comments with "get good"... what kind of weird way of thinking is that... isn't autorifles and the like usually the "noob" weapons? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against either noobs or autorifles... but what I DO think is... this pretty much takes away the option to "specialize" in long distance encounters or support... I love both playstyles myself, but have always preferred a sniper over most other weapons... why is it that the sniper style of play is being pushed out? People say it's because they were too strong in PVP... well... then make them less strong, maybe even give them special damage scaling on Guardians than on PVE content... it seems unfair that PVE players are getting screwed over, missing a "playstyle", because..... PVP says so... I don't even care that much if they get less strong in PVE too... the thing is, I want my sniper to play around with, when I feel like it... and not only for 10 shots pr hour The new weapon system I think is good in theory, but should be categorized differently... I get that rocket and grenade launchers are power weapons.... ` Fusion rifles...??? yeeeeeaaahh... maybe... it's a gray area. But what are shotguns and snipers doing in there, except for being considered OP in D1? IF you absolutly have to make a special slot for them... then give us 4 slots, or give us back the original system. Preferably for me... just put them in the primary slot, and turn down the power gauge on them

              • I 100% agree. Sniper Rifles and Fusion Rifles being put into the Heavy Weapon category is a disaster. Might as well get rid of the guns completely because I will never be able to use them. Why would I ever use a Fusion Rifle or sniper rifle when I can have a rocket launcher. Needs to be fixed.

                • Look, the snipers in destiny 1 were ridiculous. They 2 shot, were too easy to use, and ammo were generally to easy to get. Now everything is forcing you to use primary's meaning skill is alot more of a factor to who gets the power ammo. I personally love the way snipers are balanced now, and frankly if you only won from abusing snipers in destiny 1, then you didn't deserve one of those kills in the first place. Enjoy Destiny 1, players with skill will be playing destiny 2.

                  • The main purpose was to be able to balance them easier, you could say they did it for just pvp but the idea is actually good. If you remember in D1 they tried many times to balance weapons so that each archetype does not have more of an advantage over the other, it didn't work well and these changes apply to both pve & pvp. When they nerfed the special ammo it effected us in pve and lowered our damage output, the same can be said for when they tried altering the stats and performance of that archetype. The amount of power ammo available in a match is enough for one clip and in my experience I have seen and been the player that did a lot of damage with just one clip since it forced me to up my skill in using it carefully. Also Bungie did mention that the power ammo timer and points of availability will get better. Also the reason why they moved shotguns, sniper rifles, and fusion rifles is due to the fact that they were not used as often as specials when dealing with mobs and they limit versatility thanks to their limits with range, rate of fire, and DPS. By having two primaries we have more effectivity in range and give us energy weapons with the capabilities of primaries. I understand that this is harder on us when deciding between a rocket launcher to take care of those annoying mobs or your favorite shotguns, I think the intention is to force us to be more conscious of what weapon we chose for each engagement and group lo loadout. That idea would be pretty cool if we didn't have to go the the menu to switch our weapons so I will look into it more. Well here is an explanation, hope it helps and sorry it is long.

                      • People kept getting killed by one-shot weapons which made the game less skill-based. The changes force players to use "weaker" weapons and allows skilled players/shooters to pull ahead from mediocre players.

                        • OMG finally someone who has the same feelings as me. I love to use a sniper or shotgun when I want and no I dont use them as a crutch I'm not that good. When primaries are feeling stale or the situation calls for it I want to be able to use all the tools available. Its fun to have sniper duels or shotgun bouts with other players but with the new system now thats gone. Limiting players on what choices they have is just bad. When you have to constantly use the same weapon over and over again its boring.

                        • Other then fusion rifles, the power weapons don't feel that powerful at all. In pve and pvp, fusion rifles are the power weapon of choice.

                          • You'd have more chance of a kill throwing a sniper rifle at something in PVP or PVE, I've never been good enough with a sniper in crucible but putting 4 shots into somebody and not even taking their shield off is a bit ridiculous. Have also used the shotgun, which is about as effective as a shotgun in D1 so you can imagine how fantastic that is in PVE..."lets lay into the big boss".."oh wait a second I need to be within stomping distance". I can only imagine that the actual game will be much better but the new weapon layout system is really poor. It's running as a primary, primary, special..nothing heavy at all!

                            • Agreed, not a fan of the new weapon and ammo system at all. Especially sniping being one of the most enjoyable things in Destiny 1 PvP in my opinion, you're limited to using it maybe once a game, if that, especially since power ammo is bound to one player when spawned. The new 'Energy' weapons feel like a weaker primary in PvP also. The old system of primary/special/heavy weapons in year 1 when I played was enjoyable and just worked for me and arguably a lot of Destiny players, don't see why such a big change was made.
