So, I Logged Into D1 This Morning After the Beta...

So, I logged into D1 this morning. I played the D2 beta first. Did “the” strike on a different character. The auto rifle on that character, Scathelocke, I’m really starting to like and prefer to the Unbent Tree I was using in D1. Also, I’m not really a hand cannon player, but the Sunshot exotic I got on the hunter in the D2 beta is really fun to play with. And I think the main reason I played D1 was, even though the D2 game play I’m feeling from the beta I’m starting to like, I have rituals in D1 that were more appealing. Not because I like D1 more, but because there are still things I like to do there. I’ll keep playing things in the beta with my friends, but I’m basically done there and for D1, I’m done there too, but I’ll keep playing until the full release of D2. And about the friends it was nice to be back playing with some and hear from some I haven’t in a while. Even if you don’t like it or want to admit it, Destiny really is a social game. We did a strike and then played control and it was awesome. :) I’m not sure exactly what this post is about. I guess 2 things. I do feel in the beta we should have some type of open space to patrol and try the guns we’re getting out in. I think it should be limited and not give things away, but a place we can play the character types we have available to get a feel for them. The other is I am starting to like the game play in D2. But, it does not seem as responsive and (I hate to say) polished, but there is something about the D1 graphics that seem more bright or distinctive. Maybe it is again the lack of a social or patrol area to be in to truly compare. So, is it just the lighting in D2 for the areas we do have to play in that’s bugging me? Maybe this post is a 3rd thing. Just a way to get out this kind of weird feeling I’m having about it all. From the posts I’ve read it seems others have this “I can’t quite put my finger on it” feeling also. Somebody mentioned a sort of “yeah this is good, but there is work to be done here”. The way I explain my playing Destiny to people that just don’t get the whole video game thing is that Destiny to me is like the way previous generations had a favorite TV show. Destiny is my favorite show. I have other shows I watch, but I pretty much watch Destiny every day. Then they get it a little better. So, this feeling I and others have maybe is that we will definitely be partaking of the “new season”, but it still all feels a little weird. Maybe it’s because even though many complain about there not being enough to do in D1, there really is a lot to do there. :) TLDR: There’s a funny feeling I just can’t shake about D2 from playing the beta and I still really like playing D1. :)
