I really like the new gun slots. I don't feel like it's geared towards pvp at all. I like the new system for pve because now I can carry a scout and auto rifle which will cover both short and long range. The only benefit of the D1 setup was the dps for bosses. I feel like they've gone away from bullet sponges since none of the new raid bosses or strike bosses are heavily dependent on dps. It's more mechanic driven now than it was when Destiny first came out.

  • Can you not carry a scout and shotgun now which is better than scout hand cannon surely

  • Agreed completely. It's a new system and a new game built around that system, people are comparing it way to much to Destiny.

Dude, it's always about the P v P. Guns, slots, perks, abilities... Nerf'd from the get-go right outta the box. Edit,,,, And that spire boss... Stages bullet sponge. In fact, those yellow bars in Homecoming looked pretty spongey as well... Probably why everyone pops their super to get it over and done with.

  • We know for a fact that the weapon slot changes were made for PvP. Sandbox developer Jon Wiesniewski was on IGN's Fireteam Chat episode during E3 and said it himself. One of the biggest problems they've had with balancing the Crucible is controlling the number of one-hit kill opportunities. This is what all the changes to Special ammo during D1's lifespan were about. Grouping all OHK weapons into one slot and limiting Power ammo to one player per team at a time was their response to this. And considering we know literally nothing about the new raid other than there is one, I'm not sure how you can claim that the boss isn't a bullet-sponge and won't require a lot of DPS to kill.

  • I remember him talking about that although I don't think he said it was strictly for pvp reasons. It was one of the factors that influenced the change. Maybe I'm wrong. I'll have to go back and listen to it again. I'm not claiming the bosses in destiny 2 aren't bullet sponges. I'm just pointing out the evolution of the bosses in Destiny over the years. The latest bosses aren't even close to the bullet sponginess of early destiny bosses. One of the reasons Gally became so popular is because it was very difficult without one.

  • He also mentioned some vague stuff like wanting to create "power moments" but the only reason that he mentioned that felt specific and like he wasn't just waffling was the OHK problem in the Crucible. Sorry, when you said "new" bosses I assumed you meant D2. My bad.

  • Not really. Not compared to the Y1 bullet sponges.

  • The boss from the first strike is a giant bullet sponge.
