Most of you may be unaware of the game Urbz for Nintendo DS. Well, for those of you that like this game, here is a special FAQ I have begun writing. Enjoy:
Urbz: Sims in the city FAQ
The Cooking FAQ
Q: How do I mix Red Velvet Cake?
A: Blend 1 strawberry, 1 chocolate, and 1 sugar.
Q: How do I mix Apple Strudel?
A: Blend 1 apple, 1 nut, 1 sugar
Q: How do I even learn to cook to begin with?
A: It’s easy. I’ll show you everything you’ll ever need to know about cooking:
-Requirements-
--a blender
--an oven
--some skill points in cooking
--some food
…And you are pretty much set for cooking. There is only one way to actually get cooking points, though. And that is to take cooking class at the Miniopolis University.
Q: What do cooking points do?
A: When you put the mix into an oven after blending it together, sometimes the mix will literally explode in the oven, thus wasting your ingredients! The more cooking skills you have, the less likely your food will blow up.
Q: How does cooking even help me in this game?
A: Believe me, it does help. First of all, some of your goals require you to cook certain meals. Second, some of your masterpieces are worth quite a bit of Simoleons! Also, some food recipes will fill up your food motive more than others, and will keep it up longer than others as well. However, I’m still testing for these properties.
Q: Where do I find cooking ingredients?
A: Well, you can find them in two main places: one is just finding food ingredients on the ground somewhere. Another way is to buy the ingredients at the street market in Sim Quarter.
Q: Where can I find lemons?
A: Look around on the beach on Paradise Island.
Q: How do I make a giant chocolate bunny?
A: Mix 3 chocolates.
Q: How do I make Strawberry Tiramisu?
A: Mix 1 strawberry, 1 flour, and 1 vanilla.
Urb Info.
This section deals with what is on the “Urb Info” menu on the touch screen. “Urb Info” deals with the catalog, jobs, rep group, and xizzles.
Jobs--------------------------------------------------------------
There are nine jobs in this game, and one is an unlockable secret job. But here are the primary eight:
Squeegee Clean
Where: the roof of King Tower in Glasstown
When unlocked: beginning of the game
Difficulties:
Level 1—Very easy
Level 2--Easy
Level 3—Normal
Level 4—Hard
Level 5—OMG
Objective: clean up the pigeon crud off the windows. If you get bombed, walk over to the bucket. At level 3, pterodactyls begin knocking the buckets off the scaffold. At Level 4, giant pigeons begin dropping uncleanable substances that bombard the screen.
Skill requirements: Body. To get to Level 5, you’ll need seven skill points.
Tips: Come back when you buy the “20 % more Simoleons on minigames” xizzle. Otherwise, practice on the minigames section on the main menu.
Hoopz
Where: on the roof of the Urbania Police station
When unlocked: Beginning of Mission 2
Difficulties:
Level 1—Very Easy
Level 2—Easy
Level 3—Normal
Level 4—Semi-hard
Level 5—Hard
Objective: Line up the hoop with the basketball on the corner of your screen. Shoot three successful hoops in a row, and the simoleon ball will appear. Make this shot and you’ll get extra money. On each level, the hole-ball diagram in the corner moves faster.
Skill requirements: body. Almost the exact same as Squeegee Clean.
Tips: Nothing much. Just timing and accuracy.
Comic Explosion
Where: The Slice o’ Life Pizzeria in Urbania
When unlocked: In Mission 1 after completing Cannonball Coleman’s Goal.
Difficulties:
Level 1—Easy
Level 2—Easy
Level 3—Normal
Level 4—Hard
Level 5—Hard
Objective: Talk in the microphone until the giant mouth above you starts to laugh. Dodge the tomatoes; they’ll subtract ten minutes from your timer. Collect the flowers to add 5 minutes to your timer. As you get to higher promotions, more tomatoes are thrown at you.
Skill Requirements: Charisma. 7 skill points are needed to progress to Level 5.
Tips: Nothing. Talk, dodge, pick flowers, repeat. This is one of the most lucrative jobs in the game, if you have timing skills.
Dr. Max Stat!
Where: In the Urbania Hospital
When Unlocked: In Mission 1, after completing Dr. Max’s goal.
Difficulties:
Level 1—Easy
Level 2—Easy
Level 3—Semi-normal
Level 4—Normal
Level 5—Normal
Objective: A sequence of objects will appear on the top of your touch screen. Connect them in the same order in the jumbles of objects on the bottom to earn simoleons. Tap the gnome to restart your combo, if it is unsuccessful. As you get to higher levels, more types of objects will appear, and the sequences get much longer.
Skill requirements: Cooking and Logic. 7 Logic are needed to pass to level 5, and 5 cooking, I think.
Tips: This minigame is like solving a jigsaw puzzle, that’s all. Go to the university to build on your cooking and logic skills as well.
Motocross Mayhem
Where: In the track room beneath the street in Urbania
When unlocked: In Mission 1, after completing various tasks for Ewan and Dusty.
Difficulties:
Level 1—Semi-normal
Level 2—Semi-normal
Level 3—Normal
Level 4—Normal
Level 5—Hard
Objective: Race your way to the finish. You must get in first place to get promoted. As the levels get higher, the racers get faster.
Skill Requirements: Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think there are any.
Tips: There is a little motorcycle repair shop in the track room. Go there to tune up your cycle.
*buy a medium chassis
*buy a medium nitrous booster
*buy a medium engine
Moogoo Monkey
Where: Salty’s Riverboat in Sim Quarter
When unlocked: In Mission 2, after Dep. Dan tells you to play it.
Difficulties:
Level 1—Semi-normal
Level 2—Semi-normal
Level 3—Normal
Level 4—Semi-hard
Level 5—Hard
Objective: Bet coconuts under a monkey on the playing board. Put low-numbered cards under a monkey with your opponents’ fruit on it; put high cards on your own. There are three rounds: on the first round, there are a total of six monkey spaces: yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, and white. Once all the spaces have been taken, the monkey with the lowest card under it is gone, along with any fruit that was under it. This continues in the next two rounds; to win, have the most coconuts left!
Skill Requirements: Charisma and Logic. You need around 5 charisma to get to Level 5.
Tips: Just use strategy and play your cards right (no pun intended). If there is a monkey with 4 enemy fruits on it, find extremely low cards and play them on it. By the way, when you level up, new cards come into play:
Level 3: (I forgot the monkey’s name) this card takes down a monkey space to zero.
Level 4: (We’ll just call this one the Obliterator) this card just takes cards off a space altogether, and let’s you play another card on the same turn.
Level 5: Rainbow Gibbon, when played, randomizes each and every card on the board. Use as a last resort.
The Pet FAQ
Later on in the game, after you clean up Splicer Island, you’ll be able to create your own pet. This section covers anything and everything pet-related.
Part One: Creating your own pet.
Did you even collect amber in the beginning of the game, or did you ignore it? Collect around 20 or so pieces of amber from various parts of Miniopolis, then go to the splicing lab on Splicer Island.
This right here also helps cover the Splicer Island mission, so what you are about to do counts as completing goals. Okay, so head into the basement of the lab. Talk to Cynthia Braintrust. You’ll enter a splicing minigame, IF you have enough amber.
-The Amber Minigame-
This does not count as a job. All you are doing is using the stylus to trace the cracks in the amber, so that the splicing laser can reach the mosquito that is trapped inside. Be careful—be as accurate as ever, because you are timed. And if you do a poor job, your pet will end up less fascinating than it should be. After completing this minigame, you’ll go to the RNA splicing minigame.
-The RNA minigame-
Again: not a job that you earn money at. You’ll se various bubble-like structures with a white circle in the middle of each. As the scanner (the blue line that moves with the screen) touches the bubbles, tap each white circle inside. Don’t miss any; the more you hit, the better the pet.
Okay, those were all the hard parts. Now you get to name your pet. Congrats.
Part 2: Managing your pet.
Your pet works almost exactly like the monkeys did when you first came to Splicer Island. You can choose between various options upon talking with your pet, such as “play,” “scratch,” etc.
VZ’s hot tips!
--Options like “tease” and “pet” usually anger your pet. Try picking “play,” “rubdown,” and “scratch.”
--Do you want to know a special secret? Set your DS clock to Thanksgiving Day. Now go and create a pet. It will always be some strange species of chicken or turkey! Cool, huh?

Alas. The thread is dying. Either I suck at making guides, or no one likes this game. Or both.
