Only thing that is surprising is that the mother did it. Usually with family annihilations it's the father or a son with the odd daughter doing it.
It probably wasn't premeditated seeing how the murder weapon was a knife instead of poisoning.
She snapped and attacked her family. It'll turn out she has a history of scitzo or depression and that she self harmed after it or called the police on herself. Well that's my bet
