Isaac Clarke - Dead Space (1) Top of the class engineer chosen for a simple radar fix on a prestigious space mining ship that also has his loving girlfriend onboard as a top of the class nurse. Is it in a remote part of space? [i]sure[/i]. Is it been missing for weeks? [i]sure[/i]. Is it suspicious that the ship is mining in a restricted sector? [i]sure[/i]. But hey! He gets to see his sweetheart!! What can go wrong?

Since we are stating characters that had their first day on the job a long time ago and we're already well known about in their respective universes (Gorda freeman for example). You try your very best to prevent this catastrophe from going global but fall juuuust short of saving the day. [Sequel Bait]. Who could blame you for failing though right?  I mean it was your first day on the job after all. So those are my two entries.  Let's go ahead and list some characters who've had horrible first days on the job, or at least thier first real assignment if not thier actual first day of work.  But for this list I'm not looking for super soldiers or special forces who deal with crazy shyt on a regular basis.  So Solid Snake & Master Chief have to sit this one out. And spoiler alert: everyone dies (TM)

The protagonist from Sunset Overdrive.

As cliché as it is considering what forums we are on, guardians. Think about it. You are suddenly brought back to life by a wierd robot, and are told to kill aliens to get to safety. On top of that, you find out that when you are safe, you are given missions to kill the not-covenant, the walking dead, cybermen and 'murica.

I'd say the Hunter from Bloodborne. S/he went to Yharnam to cure his/her sickness, then gets dragged into a literal nightmare of bloodthirsty beasts and cosmic beings that (also literally) defy comprehension. You know it's a bad gig when you have to die to get to orientation.

The protagonist (player) from Subnautica. You're a colony ship, and you crash land on a -blam!-ing ocean, surrounded by giant ass -blam!-ing fish that eat people and you have a flesh eating bacteria killing you slowly. -blam!- THE OCEAN
