Leon S. Kennedy: Resident Evil 2
So you've finally made the Police Force. You passed all the tests, went through all the requisite training, and were assigned to the sleepy little town of Raccoon City.
What could go wrong?
How about a Zombie Virus outbreak unleashed by a secret bio-weapons development company employing the maddest scientists since Victor Von Frankenstein. Not only do you have to survive an onslaught of Zombies, grotesque monsters, and a giant crocodile [for some reason], you also narrowly escape the destruction of the entire city as it gets leveled by an atomic bomb.
So much for "Protect & Serve"
Warren: The Surge
You click the bright red "sign up" button on an ad to become an assembly worker at Creo, a company more powerful then Google & Disney combined. Why? Well you're paraplegic [can't walk] and Creo is going to hook you up with a sweet exoskeletal rig that will not only allow you to walk again but will also increase your strength and stanima beyound human limits.
Not a bad deal right?
Well it would have been great had the network not gone rogue just before your surgery. Without anesthetics they bolt the rig directly to your bones and install a nuro interface at the base of your skull. Ouch. You wake up to find your would be co-workers zombiefied and all the machinery going into murder-bot mode while the SANE ones try to sterilize everything, including you, with flamethrowers. You try your very best to prevent this catastrophe from going global but fall juuuust short of saving the day. [Sequel Bait].
Who could blame you for failing though right? I mean it was your first day on the job after all.
So those are my two entries. Let's go ahead and list some characters who've had horrible first days on the job, or at least thier first real assignment if not thier actual first day of work. But for this list I'm not looking for super soldiers or special forces who deal with crazy shyt on a regular basis. So Solid Snake & Master Chief have to sit this one out. Basically our [anti]Hero "didn't sign up for this sh!t"
Note: Please leave Name, Game & short description of training vs what-went-down in comments if possible.

5 RepliesRed Faction: Can't remember the name of the character you play but you are heading to Mars for your first day of the job and a revolution breaks out in the mines. The rest is history.

The person you play in Lost Planet 3 (forgot his name) He goes to work on a another planet for his wife and kid. He crash lands and later falls down a hole to a room full of aliens that want nothing but him dead. The person you play in Subterrain (also forgot his name) I don't think it was his first day but he goes to Mars to work on a cure for his wife's illness. He gets framed for a murder, gets put in prison and later wakes up to find everyone dead or a zombie creature thing Also the balloons from all of the BTD games. They get popped as soon as they get on the track.

Chell from portal had to wake up from cryogenic refrigiration and solve tests led by an evil robot, she then wakes up from deep sleep AGAIN and has to solve tests led by 2 EVIL ROBOTS

1 ReplyEdited by Doink Soulz: 7/11/2017 3:25:41 PMAny Unkindled. That depressed guy at the shrine makes it pretty obvious.
Thought you were going to rest in peace forever? Think again! Conglaturation! You've been randomly selected to go on a fantastic adventure for 1! All you have to do is slay the most powerful beings in existence! And no slacking off now, you'll be awake and fully "alive" until you're journey is complete! So get out there, Ashen One, fulfill your purpose, because of you don't, you'll be stuck like this for eternity! Have fun!
2 RepliesIsaac Clarke - Dead Space (1) Top of the class engineer chosen for a simple radar fix on a prestigious space mining ship that also has his loving girlfriend onboard as a top of the class nurse. Is it in a remote part of space? sure. Is it been missing for weeks? sure. Is it suspicious that the ship is mining in a restricted sector? sure. But hey! He gets to see his sweetheart!! What can go wrong?

2 RepliesDude from outlast 1. Technically not his first day but his first day on the Mt. Massive asylum story.

5 RepliesMorgan yu from prey. Actual spoiler of the first 10 minutes:
it turns out the first day and the physical tests were actually a simulation to test the effects of neuromods to give you psychic powers
then find out that your memories were erased, and you're actually on a space ship infested with alien horror monsters. Anthony Carmine, Gears of War.

3 RepliesThe protagonist from Sunset Overdrive.

5 RepliesAs cliché as it is considering what forums we are on, guardians. Think about it. You are suddenly brought back to life by a wierd robot, and are told to kill aliens to get to safety. On top of that, you find out that when you are safe, you are given missions to kill the not-covenant, the walking dead, cybermen and 'murica.

1 ReplyI'd say the Hunter from Bloodborne. S/he went to Yharnam to cure his/her sickness, then gets dragged into a literal nightmare of bloodthirsty beasts and cosmic beings that (also literally) defy comprehension. You know it's a bad gig when you have to die to get to orientation.

2 RepliesEdited by A Tigerstorm: 7/9/2017 2:09:36 AMThe protagonist (player) from Subnautica. You're a colony ship, and you crash land on a -blam!-ing ocean, surrounded by giant ass -blam!-ing fish that eat people and you have a flesh eating bacteria killing you slowly. -blam!- THE OCEAN
