Since Bungie say they will be using cloud servers instead of p2p for D2 then it should be easier for them to track deliberate connection manipulation and ddos should be a thing of the past as your opponents should not be able to find your IP address.

There's still an element of p2p networking so they will still be able to inspect the packet headers for your IP. They need to have a system that inspects recent games for deserters on the opposite team to detect ongoing cheating. Hopefully they can manage stuff like rapid fire mods and aim bots though since there will be a cloud server for physics simulation

Destiny has never has a rapid fire mod on current gen consoles ever. Likely not any aimbots, either.

How can you be sure of that? All you have to do is buy something like a XIM and use the mod pack. It allows people to add rapid fire and auto fire mods. Not sure if there's something in Destiny that prevents it from working though. I have one rotting in the attic so may dig it out and test it on patrol just to confirm. I've seen a few clips of cheaters lately where they are lag switching and also appear to fire a full mag of grasp of malok or auto rifles in a second. Looks far from normal. Here's one clip from Gigz that appears to show them using it. Skip to around 4:03. It could just be their lag switching that makes the rate of fire sound strange. Because the fire rate is dictated by the game. Not your hardware.

Ok so tested for the sake of it. There's definitely no way to manipulate the fire rate. I could however have full auto on any gun and have the venomx do all the recoil for me. Didn't even have to use the mouse and keyboard with it the mods get applied to the controller inputs as well. Didn't record video as I don't wanna get in trouble. Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people use these and don't think devs can really detect it

Cool. That would basically be a macro. My point stands.
-
That's the same as pretty much any game though
-
...which would be why most games on current gen consoles don't have any rapid fire mods...
-
Some games may have game data stored locally that can be manipulated or some data may be manipulated before being sent to servers. More likely on pc than anything. I guess the lag switching in the video made it look like his low rof pulse was shooting continuously. Who knows

We're not talking about PC.
