I'm violently allergic to seafood and I'm also lactose intolerant. One of those things would kill me if I ingested it, the other would make me violently sick.
I'm pretty certain that judge wether a meal is palatable for me based solely on what the ingredients are.

That's not what I stated. I am talking about taste. Not what you are allergic to. For instance, you still wouldn't know what ingredients taste like if you were allergic to them. For instance, pizza and ice cream are delicious. And most people would agree with that. Just because you cant eat either, doesn't mean they don't taste good.
