But, to those of you who haven't played it yet.... (majority of you) I ask you this.....
You cannot read the ingredients to a meal and know what it tastes like until you try the meal, now can you?
Edit: I have seen a lot of these answers: "If one of the ingredients is a turd, I know it will taste bad" BUT, in what world is a turd ever considered an ingredient? Not sure where you guys are from, but, no meal, in the history of ever, has ever included turd on the menu. Plus, nothing a little sweet baby ray's bbq sauce cant fix! lol
Also, this post: " If you mix nasty ingredient A, with disgusting ingredient B, you know that will probably taste bad" That's a fair point, but what if you had never had any of the ingredients? How the heck would you know if it tastes good or bad? That's ultimately what I was stating. We aren't talking about ingredients you HAVE had, we are talking about ingredients you have NEVER had.
Good discussion tho folks!
Does this mean I am internet famous?!? I was directly quoted! I am honored!

Final edit: Let me elaborate on the subject: Since we have seen about 5-10% of D2, what if you only knew 5-10% of the ingredients, do you think you know what the finish product will taste like only knowing a fraction of the ingredients? The answer is no. No way you could possibly KNOW. Have a hunch sure, but no way you can know!
Either way, I have seen very few posts that resort to name calling childish accusations. So, thank you all for being a civil as you have been!

then why were people hyped for D1

All depends on how the person cooks it. But, pretty sure if you deep fry a turd and cover it in ketchup, it's still going to taste like a turd. Ketchupy and crunchy on the outside, but shitty on the inside.

I love fixed rolls! Skill bby ahhhh yaaaa
-
I'm staying open minded but I have to say I am slightly worried about the fixed rolls on guns info recently. Not because I think it's necessarily a bad thing but because they don't have a replacement for grinding god rolls already locked down. Look at how much of the grind in the game is geared towards weapon drops for that very reason: faction packages, vanguard packages, crucible packages, weapon specific bounties, just grinding crucible matches, gun smith deliveries, weekly vendor resets. After a few months all of those will be pointless because you will have collected all the weapons you want. And they have nothing ready now to replace that with. This game is about collecting weapons as much as anything else.

Theres going to be hate no matter what. There was hate before D1 came out of course there's going to be hate for D2 and so on. But yet they'll still buy it and or stay on the forums to complain how much they hate it.

I can tell you if there's certain shit in it I won't like it for sure like anchovies or bananas or any type of testicle

-
Thank you! SO much hate and so little reason for it, it's not out yet, most people of only watched a tiny bit of game play but it's all "-blam!- YOU NO MORE GOD ROLLS" D2 IS SHIT FOR CHANGING"...calm down man...lets try it first.
-
Just gonna play the beta and go from there, not making any assumptions or forming any opinions until I can actually play the game.
-
Soooo dumb.
-
Whoa, mind blown

Edited by MrAndyH: 7/2/2017 4:30:12 PM...lets not forget that blizzard bought mlg last year... This was a foretold outcome then... Sigh

While that comparison isn't exactly the best, I do agree with what you're trying to say. While there are quite a few things that I don't like being added to (or more accurately said: taken away from) Destiny 2; you don't know if you'll like it if you don't try it. I've said it plenty of times before and I'll say it again: play the beta, try out the systems you don't like to see if they really are bad, and then give your now informed opinion on the subject.

You can put dog shit inside of a pie and make it look delicious, but it still tastes like.....well it'll taste like dog shit.
-
Jim beam, jack daniels, tequila, and tobacco sauce I promise does not taste good together
-
That's one dumb metaphor. Doesn't work.
-
This is easily one of the stupidest forms of argument you can make. I can tell you without fail many people can look at a list of ingredients to a meal and immediately know if they will like it or not, based on previous experiences with one/some/all of the ingredients listed. For example, I don't care if you cook a meal that wins every culinary award known to the industry. If I look at the ingredients, and find that you've included either mushrooms or Brussels sprouts, guess what, I won't like it. How do I know I won't like it? Easy, I won't even taste it.
-
I hate Swiss chard and I know anything made with it is going to taste like a$$. Some of us are on here on hoping that Bungie might think twice about some of their changes and start planing on fixing some of the mistakes. Personally don't think the majority of the players of this game have been considered at all. Sounds more like a bunch of band-aids taped together when you needed a tourniquet.
-
I'm waiting until the beta to really form my opinion, but I'm not nearly as excited as I would like to be. Every time Bungie puts out more news, I just get more disappointed, it's almost like they're trying to kill their own game...
-
well it is possible to rightfully assume some basics.. maybe not the perfect tastecombination in outcome but when you read oatmeal, then you know its not going to taste like Filet Mignon.. so yes, it is quit possible to read the ingredients of a meal and judge the basic taste..
-
Sure lets be quiet until the game comes out then we will all buy it and if we hate it well it will be too late to complain...
-
You cant read the ingredients to a meal and know what it tastes like until you try the meal, now can you?
That is where you're wrong, kiddo.
If you can't criticize a game you haven't played because you "don't know what it's like", then you can't defend it either with that logic, because you "don't know what it's like".
Tbh I want those people's time machines

Edited by Redgrin Grumble: 7/2/2017 4:09:02 PMI made a cake yesterday, and you thought it was delicious. Today I'll make the same cake, except I'll substitute with fat-free / sodium-free / sugar-free / vegan options wherever the recipe allows. Do you think today's cake will be as tasty as yesterday's cake was? Edit: I really wish I didn't need to spell this out for you people, but here goes: I know, from past experience, that those so-called 'healthy' options tend to sap the flavor out of whatever they're used in. Not always, but often enough. Yes, I'm going to try the cake before I judge. Knowing what I know about the ingredients, though... I'm going to be very surprised if I'm not disappointed by it.
-
The game won't be a meal. It will be a cup of sauce to start with then you have to pay for the rest resulting in a meal that's dissapointing and pricey. Mashed potatoes too cold? We'll fix it! There! Now they're even colder AND we added too much salt that you never asked for.
-
If you know you're ingredients you'll know what it's going to taste like.
