Relic crystals for exotic sword
Is there a faster way to get relic crystals than running around on mars looking for relic iron?

if your alone in the zone, pick up a patch of relic iron then quickly sparrow to a loading zone and pass through it(this must be done before the relic iron despawns)and now turn around and head back to the relic iron and collect it. Rinse and repeat

Use the old farming route in the Hollows. Should take an hour and a half to two hours depending on your luck.

The best that you can do is use the Keen Scout perk on your Nightstalker and run around The Barrens and The Hollows and look for the relic iron nodes on your radar as well as the indicators that will show up on screen as you get close to them. Now granted, it's been a good while since I did the quest, but I think I was averaging around one crystal for every 15 nodes. I would also suggest that you try not to do it in one setting - otherwise you'll get frustrated the more time you spend looking for the crystals. Remember - you can't get the crystal from chests - it has to be from the nodes. Doing that particular material gathering even with my Hunter made me have a strong dislike to Mars.

You have a 10% chance of getting them from the relic iron nodes (not chests, in case you weren't aware). It sucks and is probably the second most time consuming part of that quest line (the most time consuming part is trying to find a team that won't mess up doing the strike at the end). Only advice I can really give is work on the elemental kills while you're looking, you need like 500 of them or something, it's ridiculous.

Get a ghost that detects relic iron and have a sniper or long range scout handy. ADS and you'll see all the relic iron nodes in the area you're in. If you're a Hunter, use the Keen scout perk. Besides that, there isn't anything yo can do to speed that part up

Yeah like gathers materials yr1 - most time consuming part.
