RNG seems to be your main source of creating game time & replay-ability, instead of relying on quality content.
I think if items were very expensive, & had to be earned, it would make obtaining the item way more enjoyable, and you'd have a sense of accomplishment along with earning said item.
So, imo, if items were very expensive, & there were Quests involved, and we knew what we were getting and how to get it, it would be much better than the lazy disrespectful RNG slot machine.
Same goes for weapon and armor perks. Everything should have a path to be earned.
Instead of level 40, how's about level 500, with unlocks along the way?

Not sure about the whole level 500 thing, but I figured they included more exotic quests in TTK and RoI because of the general distaste for RNG systems of reward. We had the sword quests, touch of malice, outbreak prime, and more, each were challenging in their own ways too. Going into D2, I hope they carry on this trend of earning specific items through challenging quests. On the other hand, the average Destiny player consumes content at a much faster rate than bungie could provide it (according to bungie), so it makes sense they kept the RNG system throughout destiny 1 as they couldn't make content that kept up with the community.
