Destiny 2 Raid worries

Many people have come to the conclusion that Ghaul will be the final raid boss in Destiny 2, I hope this is not the case. In D1, many people never completed a raid or did but really didn't enjoy it. Before you start saying "D2 has guided games" or "Your not a good player if you don't do raids", here me out. The obvious end to the Destiny 2 vanilla story will be taking back the traveller and defeating the red legion but there is a large chance that Ghaul will do an Oryx (running away like a coward and becoming 10 times more powerful). If this happens it will mean that many guardians will not experience a satisfying end to Destiny 2 as they will not defeat Ghaul do to many factors; being bad at the game, having a bad connection, not working well with teams, not having the time to do a raid (many raid teams take hours to do raids) or not finding good teams (toxic players etc.). And THAT is why I hope we get to kill Gary in the story. #RaidsShouldBeASupplimentaryExperienceToTheMainDestiny2StoryNotTheConclusion Edit: this is the wrong sub forum for this but I can't change it now

  • Actually I doubt at this point Ghaul is the final Raid boss, perhaps not even a Raid boss at all. I believe that The Consul will actually be the Raid boss, and that he simply uses Ghaul as a puppet. Most likely The Consul is in fact the Emperor. This relationship can be described much like that of Darth Sidious and Darth Vader. Sidious is the real ruler who hides in the shadows and is Vader's master, advising him and teaching him. Ghaul is like the second in command, the all powerful enforcer and military commander. Another reason I doubt Ghaul is the Raid boss: All the Raid bosses share a common trait, they wield some kind of power (Oryx/Taken, Aksis/SIVA, etc). Ghaul may have an impressive fleet, but he is simply a high ranking Cabal, he doesn't wield any kind of dangerous, light threatening power. The only way I could see Ghaul becoming a Raid boss is if somehow he is able to control a twisted version of the light, which would give him power dangerous to us.

I believe its the Consol his master. I believe The Consol is the Emperor. Gary is technically a high rank commander according to the Cabal rank poster of Gary being of Dominos rank. If the Consol dies before Gary then Gary will likely be given the Emperor position. Watch E3 Interviews thats the plan. Make all PVE content impact the story experience not just raids. Due to the fact no Grim cards in Destiny 2 means players are the lore. Our actions and experience is the Destiny 2 lore
If this happens it will mean that many guardians will not experience a satisfying end to Destiny 2 as they will not defeat Ghaul do to many factors; being bad at the game, having a bad connection, not working well with teams, not having the time to do a raid (many raid teams take hours to do raids) or not finding good teams (toxic players etc.)
This statement encompasses arguably the largest issue with the gaming community in 2017. Today's generation of gamers, both young and old feel as if they are entitled to experience 100% of a video game's content, regardless of personal skill, or their personal situations regarding financial situation, time commitments or lack thereof, when in reality they do not. We need to remember that video games are a service and ultimately a privilege; the same as films, bored games and sports events, not a right, therefore no one is technically nor morally entitled to anything inside the contents of the game. Like in the real world, video games are generally built on a meritocratic system ( i.e. a system in which success is based on merit or ability; in this case skill in video games). To reap Destiny's greatest rewards and to complete Destiny's endgame content, requires 4 things, 1. A thorough understanding of the way the game plays, and at the least, average gunskill as well (most important) 2. A stable internet connection (very important) 3. The ability to dedicate anywhere between 45 minutes and 5 hours to complete endgame content, like Raids (important) 4. The ability to financially afford Destiny and its expansions (somewhat important) If one lacks these abilities and privileges, they will likely be unable to complete the aforementioned content, and this should be accepted as a bitter reality; the same as it was before the casualization of the gaming community (I estimate this to really begin around 2012-2013 with AAA games like World of Warcraft and Call of Duty seeing a substantial decrease in the general skill-gap and required time commitments). Regarding financial situations, as harsh as it may sound, and even hypocritical, especially from a known left-wing thinker like myself, if a gamer cannot afford $60 for Destiny/Destiny 2 and another $50 for its expansions, that is a personal issue. That is the sad case in our economy, where there will always be some degree of an economic hierarchy (rich and poor). It's one of those concepts that is bittersweet. It's great that people can be millionaires, but it's also a moral wrong that there exists a fraction of the population that is impoverished, and sadly we cannot completely eradicate this issue; however this strays too far from the original topic. Without a substantial level of rarity, exclusivity and interest in endgame gear (Destiny raid gear lacks rarity, exclusivity and interest for the most part), there is no challenge, and where there is no challenge, we see the issues that currently exist, with the gaming community becoming progressively more entitled and possibly less skilled. As a player fails to have their abilities thoroughly challenged, over time they will grow used to this and when faced with even a moderate challenge, they will either demand it be reduced in difficulty, or will fail miserably in trying to complete the required tasks. This is the exact same concept as what is observed with many college freshmen in America, where high schools are practically forced to pass students regardless of intellectual prowess and often lack thereof, which is done through oversimplifying the curriculum or being dangerously lenient on marking. This leads to millions of young people failing miserably in college because they are simply not used to the challenges college provides. Therefore, it is in the best interests of the Destiny community that not only Ghaul be the prime raid boss in D2, but that the overall difficulty of D2s endgame content is increased, to force players to adapt and become more skilled, rather than catering to their lack of skill and the lacking of various other factors including funds, an internet connection and time.

        1. In TTK, you 'beat' Oryx in both the story and the raid. It seems that only the story version is canon. 2. More people completed a raid than people completed a Titan, Hunter, or Warlock subclass. 3. In every case so far, the raid has been supplementary... So really, I don't know what you're assuming is going to happen in D2... Also.
it will mean that many guardians will not experience a satisfying end to Destiny 2 as they will not defeat Ghaul
4. Then maybe they should finish the game...

        • The Raid should be retaking the Tower, like the movie The Raid. Start at the bottom and fight your way back to the top.

              • I disagree. Raids should be the end all be all, the final battle.

                • Personally I see the story ending with a fight against the Consul, to give Ghaul time to escape and face us in the raid. Consul is Ghauls mentor, so it'd make sense that his death would further strengthen Ghauls resolve. Sort of a revenge kind of thing, like with Oryx and Crota.

                • Ghaul will be the story's final battle. The Raid will be the monument to our sins.

                • Pretty sure the final story mission will be fighting Gary at/in the traveller. The raid will be aboard the red legion fleet or at their base against a different boss. I would much prefer the raid to be defeating him with 5 of my friends but I'm pretty sure that won't happen :(

                • Nah. Keep it epic. Make Ghaul the big, bad raid boss that you need to cooperate to defeat. Destiny needs to retain what little awesomeness it has left.
