I own The Taken King Legendary Edition for Xbox One on disc, and I want to buy the Rise of Iron expansion. When I try to buy it from within Destiny I get “Query failed. Could not establish connection to the XBox Games Store”. But if my son is signed in with his gamer tag the option to buy ROI works, and asks for a payment method. I’m happy to share the game with him, but if the ROI purchase must be tied to a gamer tag I prefer it to be mine.
Is there some way to ensure my Taken King Legendary Edition disc is linked to my gamer tag instead of his before buying Rise of Iron? Also, can anyone tell me if this is a Microsoft XBox issue or a Bungie issue?

3 RepliesThe Taken King disc would have come with a code to redeem the expansion content, in the case. Was this code redeemed to your son's account? (Note that the disc is only the base game - TTK was part of the code included with the disc). Purchasing RoI by itself requires the purchasing account to own TTK. If the TTK code was redeemed to your son's account, only his account is eligible for standalone RoI purchases, as your account wouldn't actually own TTK.

That is on Microsoft's end. You can ensure you purchase Rise of Iron on your account by going to the dashboard and manually looking it up in the xbox store and purchasing it on your xbox live account, as for your Taken King disc it isn't tied to either one of you since xbox discs don't work that way.
