I'm glad they are moving to a more in game lore model. The grimoire just pissed me off despite the stories being good. Now that's all in game.

  • Yeah, but the grimoire cards were an excellent way to hide little nuggets of information. The only problems were that most of the story was told through them, and they were only accessible from outside the game. I do like that they're putting more story elements in-game, but I think the grimoire could've been a cool thing to have on top as long as it was executed correctly. In Destiny 1, it was the main method of storytelling. I think in Destiny 2 it would've worked well as the cherry on top instead.

Kinda. I'm pretty bitter about it as a dark souls fan and that the grimoire is actually the originally script quickly reworked in the last year of development. I'm very happy about this change. Grimoire took me out of the world entirely and where you got things like dead ghosts didn't matter much they were just hidden. Whereas in dark souls you have that kind of lore but it's in the world and you have to take into account where you find, what on, at what time. It has amazing world building that destiny just lacked from the grimoire out of game and halo skull style locations. The stories however were great. I just hope they commit to world building instead of a handful of scannables etc
