Hi everyone, since I have ran the relic since year 1 doing the Templar challenge, I thought I could help anybody that wants to know how to run it. If you have any unique strategy to do it, share it! Everybody is welcome :)

I like to run backwards with the relic, helps with my situational awareness. ~TheGreatNike

Edited by Shirtless_Captain_Kirk: 6/10/2017 2:43:17 PMEasy mode guide for Templar (and relic): Run back strat with Bubble and Tether, use all Gjallarhorn. (Sleeper is decent here, but Gjallarhorn is easier to spam fast) Relic: when one of the "light pillars" for the Templar appears, that means he will teleport to that spot in 10 seconds. Count to 7 before covering the teleport. This will give you enough shield to survive consistently. As soon as it says "Templar summons minotaurs" start moving to the next teleport and preparing to cover it. Fight should Literally be about 30 seconds if done correctly.

on Atheon, when teleported and grabbing relic, don't charge straight down the stairs. There is a walled off section of stairs/ramp to the right of both venus/mars (future/past) stairs - easier/safer to get in range to melee them without taking any fire

I always run relic. And I'm not half bad. I seriously started running relic and sword just because no one else seems to know how. Now my fireteams always have one. It's not hard. Everyone should learn how so that no one has to sit in orbit with this - "Who's running relic?" -Silence ensues Moral of the story, if you don't know how to yet, go see this guy. Heck, even a YouTube video can teach you.

Edited by Abrrinacave: 6/10/2017 10:54:51 PMThe trouble I have is I can't get groups who can do damage. I once had to block teleport for 5 minutes straight before one group managed to kill him...
-
I like how you don't share how you do it. Sounds like someone asking how to run relic in a roundabout way.
-
Templar strategy 1) post in LFG "Templar checkpoint must be experienced" 2) in orbit "who's doing relic?" 3) *silence* 4) " I guess I'll do it if no one wants to" 5) spend 5 mins waiting for super 6) start encounter, someone dies about 30 seconds in and the oracles wipe everyone's super 7) wait for super 8) repeat 6 and 7 a few times until people get annoyed and leave There's your Templar strategy

I thought you were supposed to throw the relic away like a frisbee when he's at about 10% health. That's how I've been doing it. :\
-
Use Memory of Jolder.
-
Easiest way for me is to strap on a MIDA and Garrison for extra mobility while running as my Titan. Stick and move and don't hang around to get hit once he calls for minotaurs and you should be fine. Also make sure you have max discipline so the relic bubble shield is charged quicker. Found out the hard way a tier 1 discipline is a great way to cause a wipe.

Grab relic, jump off map to avoid being murdered.

Edited by OldboyVicious: 6/10/2017 10:59:08 PMRight after the Templar's shield goes down the first time, throw a hunter vortex (void/nightstalker) grenade right at his "feet." This will knock him back a few inches, and if you get it just right, his line of fire will be blocked so he cannot hit the person who is on the left teleport. *"Left teleport" I mean the teleport that would be to your left if you are facing the pool of light where you cleanse from oracles/where legions spawn at the bottom of the stairs with your back to the ledge you jump down from to start the encounter. *The vortex grenade should hit as soon as the shield is dropped, and be placed between the Templar and the pool of light/the area down the stairs where legions spawn. You want it to be as close to a direct hit on the Templar as you can get without actually directly hitting it.

Edited by Der_Peevmeister: 6/10/2017 1:44:31 PMStep 1: Wait for the proverbial no one to volunteer to run relic. Step 2: Wait for a moment of quiet. Step 3: Grab relic unexpectedly. Step 4: Scream, "LEEROYYYYYYY JENKINSSSSSSSSSSS!" and jump off the map. Step 5: Abandon Fireteam, return to orbit.

As a hunter be a bladedancer Spec for invis Profit

1. Do mid oracle strat where everybody is in the middle where you first jump down. 2. Make sure you don't jump across next to Templar, partly so harpies don't kill you but mostly bc after "Templar calls minotaurs", Templar will focus on you for longer if you get to teleport platform sooner.

Don't die stop teleports

I put bubble on the left teleport. Then take the long route. I've only been relic runner three times though. Usually I'm the weapons bubble but lately nobody seems to be confident. Long route means less time spent being aggro'd and bubble just so I can just stand there and recover a bit.

Don't die.

Jump slam everything.

Throw grenades to aid in Add control/deterrent.
