Due to it having a significantly larger library and selection of games, one of the different version of the 3DS/2DS would probably be the better choice, at least right now. I don't know about performance differences between a Switch and 3DS/2DS (mostly because I don't own a Switch yet), though I'd imagine that the Switch probably has the better performance in terms of run speed and graphics and such, but the 3DS would be a better investment right now as it has a lot more games than the Switch currently does (the only major games it has right now that I can think of and would make the console really worth getting are Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe).

Edited by Scoose_McGoose: 6/9/2017 4:34:32 PMWhat 2018 game? I say both. 3DS offers some great experiences, and is smaller, has longer battery life, dual screen, etc. Switch obviously carries better games, better graphics, and has a full console setup, even when on the go. But it's a little big, but luckily I rarely wear anything but cargo pants when I travel. It can work with carrying cases and bags/backpacks.

For right now, the 3ds for far superior game library. After a couple years, probably the Switch, but it remains to be seen.

Ask me again, when my Splatoon 2 Switch Bundle arrives at the 21 july ^_^ But for the 3DS: As long as it isnt an XL or you wear skinny jeans, the 3DS should fit perfectly in your pockets and so you can simply put it in and out of your pocket unlike the Switch. Also currently there are more and better games out for the 3DS than the Switch. Atleast imo, Fire Emblem, Pokémon and games like Codename S.T.E.A.M and many others are only on 3DS atm, but as soon as the Switch gets such games too, I'll most likely switch (unintended pun)

1 ReplyEdited by LahDsai: 6/8/2017 4:52:17 PMSwitch might be fine for a plane, train or other situation where you're predominantly going to be seated but it's far less convenient to haul around town (you can't just put it in your pocket, you'll need to carry a bag) or pull out on a bus or subway car. It's not so much a "portable gaming platform" as it is a "gaming platform that's portable", if you know what I mean. Given the 3DS' more portable nature, longer battery life and more extensive library (currently), I'd say 3DS would be your better bet. I guess it comes down to this, which would you get more use out of, a new phone or a new tablet. If the answer is phone, go 3DS. If the answer is tablet, go switch.

Um i believe the new 2ds xl has the longest battery life, and can play all ds games where 3d isn't somehow essential.

Right now, the 3DS. Way more games.
