I know that from the perspective of the viewer, the enemy isn't that great, since we see the perspective of top 1,000 players demolishing them. But it feels like, especially in Jake's 1v3s, they always match against lower skilled players. "Stats don't matter" in mind, but I have 1.4 / 1800 stats and it seems like everyone I match against is significantly better than these 3.0 / 2500 player's match ups. I just don't get it.

21 RepliesYou're seeing the skill GAP....not the absolute skill. I'm an above average player...but if I play with some of the weaker PVP players in my clan...I'll get matched up against some players who are CONSIDERABLY less skilled than I am. In one Iron Banner match, I literally shot my way out of a 1v4 in taking a control point. That's right. I walked into a 1v4 and WON..... You have to remember that these guys are basically PROFESSIONAL gamers. True Vanguard has talked about playing in local Halo tournaments when he was a teenager. So you're talking about guys that are so good that they have the ability to make just about anyone look bad. Think putting a good high school baseball player in the batter's box against a good Major League starting pitcher. The result would be UGLY.

63 RepliesThey play and get money from bungie. So they have to make sure they win and look good doing it. So bungie makes sure they face crap players.
-
Because the ones he uploads are usually the ones he does good on, which are usually bad people because 1v3s are next to impossible to do on anyone competent

Edited by Erijian: 6/8/2017 8:26:35 PMIt mostly comes down to the games they decide to record. As an example, most of the matches I get in I have to put some form of effort into but on the occasion I get that match where I can effortlessly steamroll the lobby. They choose to record the latter over the former. ..if they tried doing these silly challenges against players of equal skill, they'd lose and it'd make for a bad video. Why would they put that out?
-
Idk but whenever I'm playing with better teammates I get matched against way worse players with terrible stats. Bungie has some F'd up matchmaking.
-
Edited by GamerCone: 6/8/2017 5:58:07 PMThey play far more games. And they only post the wins or interesting but close loses. So the content you're seeing is being curated. They match against plenty of other strong players. If you watch the streams they lose games, not many but it definitely happens. I think you're not taking into account all the games you don't see them play.
-
They do carries.
-
They get a teammate to get a card with losses on it already. It will match you up with people that either have losses or less wins. And less skilled usually. So the person needing the carry has a reg card while another person has like a win and a loss already so his card take priority in the search.
-
Believe or not good players very rarely play trials they may do a card and that's it , good players are always on rumble or skirmish playlists, trials is between people who do carry's for a job or people that have a KD of one or less, at least most of time,
-
The matchmaking in this game is complete shit. I'm matched with a ton of players who wreck me nowadays.
-
probably be a streamer buff applied at the account level.
just trollin'
As the good players say to the bad players in relation to why CbMM - "makes you a better player"

7 RepliesI hate streamers and youtubers who constantly tell you what gun to get because it's "godly". It makes it so easy for everyone to have a gun with ridiculous rolls instead of finding it yourself. All it takes is one person to ruin everything. Just today, I watched a video of some grown man screaming his head off like a little girl because he got an eyasluna to drop for him. Even as he shows the horrible perks, (spray and play, danger close), he's still screaming and crying about getting it to drop. All I could think of was how pathetic the video seemed And I especially hate those who constantly try to exploit glitches in order to gain an edge in the crucible and literally tell you to take advantage before it gets patched which could take days or weeks. And yes, I'm looking at riflegaming. Really? You're gonna show everyone how to glitch yourself into a wall where you can deal damage to enemies and take none yourself, and tell them to do it before it gets fixed? And everyone wonders why crucible is a total crap hole. Everyone screams for nerfs for getting killed by a weapon one too many times. You're crying because a gun efficiently did what it was supposed to do? All these nerfs end up carrying over to pve. Do you know how pathetic it is for a 1k stare to no longer be able to one shot a wizard even with solar burn? Trials and crucible, in general, are the reason why this game has gone to hell. This game went from a dirty pearl found in the sand... to a big wet creamy pile of [canine waste product]. And a big part of it are these streamers and youtubers for giving everyone this 4 gun meta consisting of eyasluna, palindrome, icebreaker, and wormwood
-
Bro do you think their gonna show the 1v3's that they lost? Cmon man
-
I think they both make it look easy, and they would try to show matches with lower level players to self promote. If you show a close match with a good player, it doesn't make you look as good.
-
I think they just make it look easy
-
Anybody that has played Crucible long enough can make themselves a video (if they saved clips) that makes them look like near God-like status. Especially if you've been around since the beginning. As others have said, unless you watch streams of them too, you're not going to see 'the bad side' of these players. You're usually only going to see lots of top tier clips that they sorted through or only recorded apart from the bad games and clips. And, honestly, the only reason they have so many is because they play waaaaaaay more than most other people. Skill is a part of it, I won't discount that, but time will give everyone a good break to show off every now and again.

5 RepliesOne thing you have to keep in mind with these YouTubers is they aren't going to post the 1v3's that they got trashed in. They will do it till they get one match that they win. Maybe they will get one like that right away, on the other hand they might be in there a while trying to get it. So of course they make it look good, they don't post videos making them look bad.
-
1 Reply1. A lot of people assume they're going to lose when they get matched against a streamer/youtuber, or they panic and don't play as well as they normally would because they're trying to show off or something. It's a mental thing. 2. You better hope they have message notifications disabled, because the streamer's fans are probably spamming the other team with messages trying to block their radar
-
I sh*t you not, when stats weren't recording 2 weeks ago I matched up against Triplewrecks fireteam, I was the only one that went positive on our team (3rd place overall). And i got cloudberried to orbit before the next game started.... only error code that day too.

6 RepliesBungie has admitted in the past that they have control over drops and matches. They've manipulated drops and lobbies to make streams more entertaining. It's all business for free advertisement.
-
2 RepliesI'll give some advice to the average player facing a Streamer or Youtuber; Use Stickies and only Stickies! They hate them because they close the precious skill gap they work so hard to create.
-
1 ReplyI'm more shocked that they still get horny to play trials every.-blam!-ing.weekend.24/7.
-
19 RepliesIt's 100% based on the amount of wins on your card. That's all.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Orbital Drop Shock Trooper: 6/7/2017 3:45:31 PMMy guess is that they have manipulated router settings to block incoming IP's within a certain distance. That way sbmm can't pair them up with players from across the world like it usually does for an average game for high tier players. By geographically limiting themselves within a set region, they can just bounce around with average to low tier players in that region, while also blocking ips of good players in the same region. Just my guess though.
-
They just keep recording 1v3's until they match up against crap players. If they uploaded every match they played they would lose 95% of the time. Seriously, every 1v3 I've ever seen is always against like 0.1 k/d's.
