Logan pulled open the door to his home/armory, and held it for Angel. She walked in and flipped a switch. Soon, the massive warehouse lit up, a few lights at a time. The two Guardians and the two ghosts went straight to the arena in the back of the armory.
"If you want to be a superhero, you're gonna have to learn how to use your powers, Angel..." Alice said as she started up the simulation.
"Well... I can try," Angel replied as she stepped to the center of the mat. Angel took several deep breaths, pulled her arms together, then cast them out! Finally, a ward of dawn formed around Angel, but the shield dissipated just moments afterward.
Logan face-palmed. "Here... I got an idea," he said as he approached Angel. "When you go to form a ward of dawn, I'll channel some extra Void Light into you," the warlock said.
Angel nodded, so Logan placed his hands on Angel's shoulders. The titaness threw her arms apart again, creating a ward, then Logan channeled his Void Light into her. Their combined Light was enough to sustain the bubble shield! Finally!
"Lo...gan! I c-c-can't feel... my-y-y arms..." Angel said through chattering teeth. Her armor was soon encased in ice crystals, and her body was losing heat quickly.
"Logan, stop!" Alice shouted from the distance. Logan removed his hands, separating Angel's connection to the Void.
The ward around the Guardians began fluctuating, and slowly dwindling in size. The purple hue, turned a dark black. Angel fell to a knee, but tried to hold the ward nonetheless.
"Angel, you have enough Void in you, to throw three nova bombs! Be careful!" Logan warned.
Angel took deeper breaths and gritted her teeth. She stepped back to her feet and tried to stabilize the ward of dawn. The dome began to turn purple again... then, a bright cyan blue.
A few minutes later, Angel raised her head up and looked around. Lights were blown out and glass scattered across the ground. Walls were filled with cracks and some of the drywall had fallen off. Angel pushed herself up, but sat back down. "What... happened?" She asked as she rubbed her shoulders.
Logan, who was on the opposite side of the room, sat up. He began nervously laughing. "The excess Void in you radiated out through the ward in an explosion..."
"Are you okay?" Angel asked as she walked over to Logan and helped him up.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Logan replied.
"Logan, how do you channel your Light?" Alice asked from the sidelines.
"I can summon Void energy into the form of a bomb," the warlock replied.
"Can I see?" Angel asked.
Logan limped to one end of the room. Like Angel, he took several breaths and got into a deep meditative state. The warlock pulled back his arm, gathering Void energy into his hand, then cast a massive object that traveled across the room and exploded. Logan turned around and shrugged his shoulders.
"There's another thing we need to work on," Alice said. "It'll give you some time to warm back up, Angel,"
"What's that?" The titaness asked.
"Lift. A titaness like you has a jetpack built into your armor, but it's powered by your Light," the glowing ghost replied.
Logan snapped his fingers. "Follow me," he said.
The two Guardians walked up a flight of spiral stairs and into another room in the warehouse. Logan led Angel to a balcony that looked over the arena they were just in. "I have that ability, but it is purely to float," Logan said. He jumped off the balcony then floated in the air before returning to Angel.
"Your turn, dear," Alice said with a smile.
Angel grabbed Logan's arm, then peered over the edge. "And if I fail?..." she asked.
Logan thought for a second. "Do you trust me to catch you?"
Angel's face lit up and a beautiful smile grew. But, she shook her head. "No... I don't," she said.
Logan bit his tongue. He stepped towards the edge, then looked down. He waved his hand around, creating a purple torrent on the floor, then force pushed a hole through the vortex. The warlock turned around, then did the same right behind him. "Being a sorcerer rocks," he said.
"Warlock... Warlock is the politically correct term..." Merlin stated.
"Shut up," Logan snapped. The man turned to the titaness, then tilted his head to see her green eyes. "Do you think you can do it?" He asked.
Angel swallowed nervously. "I have to find out somehow, right?..." Angel ran to the edge, then jumped! For a moment, she was floating in air almost weightless! Then, reality set in. Angel looked down to see herself plummeting to the ground. She screamed loudly, then felt arms wrapped around her.
"I told you I'd catch you," Logan said as he raised his eyebrows. It was a good thing Logan created those portals.
"Heh..." Angel mumbled as she got back onto her feet. Her nerves were shot from that fall.
"Do you want to try again?" Logan asked.
"I need to know I can do this," Angel replied as she walked back to the edge.
"Angel, once you are in the air, jump again. The Light is in your step, so jump again while in midair. That should generate some thrust," Alice said after she ran simulations in her processor.
Angel's eyes slanted angrily. "Well, thanks for telling me!" She yelled. The titaness jumped off the balcony, then while in air, she kicked her legs out again. This time, bursts of energy were emitting from Angel's armor. "Whoa! I'm doing it!" She cheered.
"You're doin' great, Angel!" Logan yelled as he clapped. Angel began flying--hovering, really--around in the air and laughed excitedly. Logan glanced down for a moment, then his whole demeanor changed. "Angel, you're drifting away from the portal!" He shouted.
"What?" Angel asked. She looked down, then realized she was over solid concrete. "Oh..." She tried to fly back to the balcony, but her jetpack was about to fail.
Logan jumped, then tried to float over to Angel. He reached his arm out for Angel to grab. As soon as they grabbed each other's wrists, Angel's jetpack cut out! The two fell straight onto the ground.
Alice and Merlin rushed to the edge of the balcony. "Eeee..." Merlin groaned.
Angel had landed on top of Logan, and with her heavy armor, knocked his breath right out of his lungs. She rolled off of him and stared at the ceiling. "That was... eventful," she laughed. Logan was still gasping for air. Angel patted his chest and laughed some more.

1 ReplyLol the guardians in my series would have obliterated half of that building with that Nova Bomb. I can see more clearly now that my guardians are made out as radiant engines of destruction, rather than just soldiers.
Bump

Yeah it's a Warlock, Heretic.
2 RepliesNice. You gave some good detail to jump mechanics.
