Time to take a look at your internet connection. 1. If you are using wifi switch to a hard wire link as no matter how good any system is subject to interference. 2. Run a full internet diagnostic from your console (not a PC or getting your provider to do it for you). You are looking for poor NAT, data loss or a high signal latency. Guides to all the error codes can be found by doing a search on Google, B.Net and the Destiny app (in fact if you look at your post on B.Net the error codes you listed will be highlighted as auto links to the guide pages).

  • I got high packet loss, but when I did the questions on xbox.com I think I met or exceeded the requirements. I have 16.57 Mbps for download speed, 4.93 for upload speed, 108 for latency, 100% for wireless strength, 17% packet loss, and 1480 for MTU. I then tried the tests again a few times and it might say the same thing it might say it was fine. One time it said I had 1% packet loss 49.71 for download speed, 5.54 for upload speed, 83 ms for latency, and 1490 for MTU It said that if my headset is third party it might be causing something... Is Afterglow a third party headset?

Any amount of packet loss is bad. It's far more important to have no packet loss than whatever your download and upload is, provided you're getting more than 1Mbps up and down. A good way to test for packet loss, is from your console's web browser using this line quality test on DSLreports.com. If you're hardwired, and fail the packet loss test, you will probably need to contact your ISP. Before doing so, make sure that the line connected to your modem is connected directly and not going through any cable splitters. Make sure all connections are snug. You can also check your modem signal strength levels. If they are out of range, you can attempt connecting your modem to a different outlet in your home. Beyond that, it will be a problem for your ISP to address. Good luck with that, though. You'll need to be extremely persistent, and very knowledgeable to get them to actually fix anything in many cases, because they'll constantly tell you how your upload and download are just fine, which is not the issue here at all.

  • Are you testing from your console, or a computer? The packet loss test doesn't support IPv6, but your console will use IPv4. What is the exact error message that it is giving you?

  • From my console. When I open up my Xbox one (it is an Xbox one S, I don't know if that will change things) in the network settings it says IPv4 and IPv6...

  • If when you try to perform the test on DSLreports, and it shows your IP address as an IPv6 address, you can click in that box, delete it, and type in your IPv4 address.

It shows this at the start of the test: "2601:184:200:1970:c..." and I don't know what that means. When I enter in what my cmd says is IPv4 address it says that this is not a public IP address

Even simpler, from your Xbox dashboard, check your Internet connection status, and it should display and IPv6, and an IPv4 address. You want to use the IPv4 address to replace IPv6 address when you perform the test where it shows your IP. Unfortunately, the test only works with an IPv4 addresses. If your Xbox doesn't display your IPv4 address, Google it, which is also very simple. I'm not 100% sure about Xbox, since I'm on PS4. Another simple way to see what your IPv4 address is is to navigate to test-ipv6.com which will give you a score on your IPv6 connectivity. In the summary tab, at the top it will show you your IPv4 Address.

  • TL/DR at the bottom. That's good, and I'm assuming below the score, the three areas below had a checkmark saying "pass", and 0% loss? 100/100 is outstanding, surprising, really. I'd double check you put in your correct IPv4 address just in case. Keep in mind, issues can be intermittent, but now that you know how to check it, you should check it from time to time, especially if you notice you are red barring. If you notice that you have occasions of packet loss occurring intermittently, it's something to be concerned about. If instead of checking periodically, you would like something that can do it for you automatically and constantly monitor your connection for packet loss, there is software available to do that, such as ping plotter. DSLreports also has a smoke ping test on their tools page that will monitor and graph your connection over a 24 hour period. These will be helpful if an issue arises and you need your ISP to fix it. An intermittent issue relies on luck for it to be occurring at the exact time a service tech comes out. Keeping records of your past results can help in that situation. If you're having connection issues to your party members, and at the same time tests show you have no packet loss, I would think your NAT type could be a problem. Keep in mind that the NAT type that your console reports is based on connecting to Sony or Microsoft services, not necessarily checking the ports you need for Destiny. To make sure the needed ports for Destiny are open, the easiest way, is to make sure that you have UPnP enabled in your router and port forwarding is turned off. Port forwarding should really only be done if your router does not have UPnP or there's no other way to allow traffic on the needed ports. TL/DR Since your test showed no packet loss, make sure that your NAT is open by turning off port forwarding, and enabling UPnP. Good luck.

That's an IPv6 address. You should not be posting your public IP, but you can find your IPv4 address by simply googling the term "What is my IP address", or "what is my IPv4 address". An IPv4 address has 4 sets of numbers, sepperated by a dot, 123.45.6.789 for example. Once you have your IPv4 address, click into the field displaying your IPv6 address, and replace it with your IPv4 address.

  • First, get off wifi if at all possible. That will make a considerable difference. Secondly, if you can't get off wifi, you may want to look into getting a powerline adapter. Getting off wifi will help with packet loss and random interference/disconnects in the wireless signals.

  • Although I always connect wired, I've never had an issue running packet loss tests from various wireless connected devices, and often feel that blaming Wi-Fi is a cop out in many cases. Of course, I do know how to scan my area to select a Wi-Fi channel that is less subject to interference because it's not being used by my neighbors, or subject to interference from other household devices that operate on a similar frequency such as the Bluetooth signal from a wireless controller or headset. I also use 2.4 GHz instead of 5 GHz. The reason for that is, 2.4 GHz tends to be more stable and have a greater broadcast range, the trade off being less bandwidth on 2.4 GHz. For many people, it's just not practical to go wired. In that case, I would recommend they do the same things. A good starting point is to set your Wi-Fi to broadcast on channel 1 or 11. Those channels are less likely to be set automatically as the default by your neighbors routers, and are less subject to interference from Bluetooth signals. I would also disable the 5 GHz broadcasting band. To improve your broadcast area for your router, I would suggest you place the router as high up from the floor as possible. Doing the above would at least improve Wi-Fi to the point it should not be an issue unless you are operating in an area with a lot of EMI/EMF interference. If you're doing it that way, and you still have problems, there's probably a greater issue at hand.

  • More like a hard wire link instead of wifi. From what you said it sounds like interference but that could come from a number of sources and not just a headset.

  • Try port forwarding on your router. Also as you are switching from wifi to a cable re-set your console cache to refresh you internet connection.

I got ethernet in, open NAT, reset console cache, and port forward done. Not in that order, but yeah. Thanks so much for your guys' help. I'll let you know how it goes.
I talked to my ISP and they reset my modem and router, but since then it has only gotten worse. They don't seem to understand what is wrong and neither do I?
This is a very common issue in my experience. I had to call my ISP recently to fix an issue, and if I hadn't been knowledgeable about the problem, they never would've sent a tech out. The tech was even less knowledgeable than the person that I talked to on the phone. It can be a problem sometimes.
